Librarians must not have had to take Lit 101 because it is standard to write a paper in accordance with the time the work was written. Major pet peave of mine is the same standard is not kept in writing about the constitution.
When I took Chilren’s Lit in college, we were told never to have books in our classroom that were written before 1970...
This was the early 1980s...
the only older books we studied were the Caldecott/Newbury prize winners...going back to the 1940s..
and this was at a Christian college but influenced in that area by the Tennessee state lib “edumacaters”
