CHICAGO A division of the American Library Association has voted to remove Laura Ingalls Wilder's name from a major children's book award over concerns with how the early-to-mid 20th century author portrayed blacks and Native Americans.
The Association for Library Service to Children's board made the unanimous decision Saturday at a meeting in New Orleans. The name has been changed to the Children's Literature Legacy Award.

Thanks! I’ll check that out.
It is part of the effacement of History. When people have no familiarity with History then they will accept whatever they are told. They no longer know what sorts of systems have always failed or wrought misery in the past so the past can be aggressively repeated. If they succeed, and my betting would be on ultimate success of the project, then when America slips into the night the rest of the world will follow and the Globalist masters will lose the resources necessary to maintain themselves and Islam will then soak through the whole world.
The good people at #alaac18 are past #woke. They are #wokeaf.
Her mother did not like American Indians because she had seen a massacre but Laura was rather fascinated by them.
This is how the progressive agenda rewrites history, just remove it and pretend it never happened.
Erase the nation's flaws and achieve the liberals perfect flawless country devoid of character.
Power is in tearing human minds to pieces and putting them together again in new shapes of your own choosing.
"Who controls the past controls the future; who controls the present controls the past."
The past was erased, the erasure was forgotten, the lie became the truth.
George Orwell, 1984
I really feel for the children and grandchildren of the current teens and twenty-somethings. These snowflakes are systematically destroying all of our history, good and bad. How long until the George Santayana quote “those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it” will be in full force?
That is, if anyone remembers Santayana’s quote!
The Association of Library Service to Children's (ALSC) board voted unanimously on Saturday to rename the "Laura Ingalls Wilder Award" as the "Childrens Literature Legacy Award."The current The Association of Library Service to Children president of the ALSC Board of Directors is Nina Lindsay (March 2017-June 2018).
The association, which took the vote at its board meeting in New Orleans, said the vote "was greeted by a standing ovation by the audience in attendance."
The ALAC president-elect is Jamie Campbell Naidoo, author of children's books, like Rainbow Family Collections Selecting and Using Children's Books with Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer Content.
So it's pretty obvious what kind of floaters have clogging the ALAC toilet bowl.
I’ve heard a theory that Laura didn’t write the books, and they actually were written by her daughter, Rose. If Rose were alive and aware what’s happening now, it would be hard for her to take. I understand she had a part in the Libertarian movement in the US.
I had a professor at Troy mention, many years ago, that librarians were well known for their homosexual and lesbian proclivities.
I had never heard that before but in the years since it has become clear.
Re libraries hurting kids: yeah...
When I was a teen and went to the library with my family and checked out books from the teen section, many dealt with sex, and often gay sex too, and plenty about drugs. Many copies of Go Ask Alice were always on the teen shelf. Supposedly to help keep kids from doing drugs because the true story of Alice doesnt end well for her, but her true diary really made drugs look SUPER FUN to 11 year old kids. Like an amusement park. When I was abused by adults, I was somewhat comforted by all the sex happening in all the books for teens. Oh. So I guess this happens to everyone, so its kind of ok. WHEN GOOD INTENTIONS BACKFIRE, right?
Thank you for looking up (or remembering) the actual details. It’s just as we suspected.
I wonder what she would have said if your children had asked for the printout directly.
It seems no matter what area of formerly Christian life, the Marxists have penetrated, contaminated, and rotted it to the core.
Remembering. I worked my way through all the main stories again just this year with my youngest. We stopped before Laura goes courting because shes too young but we read all her childhood again.
Any Indians portrayed in a bad light were portrayed that with the truth. It was known Ma hated Indians and feared them. Pa did not, but had his healthy respect.
At one point for weeks the tribe near them were pounding drums and unearthly yelling all night. The ingallses were quite unnerved and scared. Then we understand why. The government has just forced them off this land that was to be theirs and moved them elsewhere so the white settlers could have that land. Then the whole tribe gathered up all their possessions and rode off, for a day or two, a long line of Indians rode steadily past the ingalls cabin, papooses, horses, elderly, and all. Then all was quiet. It was viewed as sad. I feel it was very truthful and respectful.
Laura was a writer for the local newspaper. Her daughter was indeed an writer and author on her own. She wrote a book in the same vein as what her mother’s later books would become and that may have prompted Laura to write them herself.
The hand written Big Chief tablets from Laura do exist, and my wife has seen some of them. Her daughter seems to have been involved in editing some of them to final form, as there was a dispute over her input at one point.
Laura was almost 60 when she began writing the stories that became the series of books that were so well known. She had written down her memories in some cases and she used those to help shape the stories. Besides visiting her homes in Missouri and the sites elsewhere, my wife has read a number of scholarly studies on Laura and her life and she says emphatically, “No, Shakespeare wrote them.”
“But now the left has decided that she didnt have a 21st century politically correct world view.”

This would include any and all authors prior to newspeak.
George Orwell Quote:
Every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book rewritten, every picture repainted, every statue and street building renamed, every date altered. And the process is continuing day by day and minute by minute. History has been stopped. Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Party is always right
Since blacks started slavery in the colonies, can we erase all blacks from history??
Many may not be aware that only a few of the stories are set in Kansas as the travels of her family were varied from her father’s longings to find the right spot to homestead. The Kansas site is actually some ways south of Independence, Kansas and is only about ten miles from “Indian Territory” which would become Oklahoma. Her father felt that the land title might be clouded by Indian claims and they left the remote spot they had on the southern prairie.
While the house was long gone when Laura became more well known, the site was located from the remains of the hand dug well and the small cabin has been recreated along with a few other buildings indicative of the era and a small shop.
And we have the head voodoo doctor of Secular Humanism and education theory, John Dewey who is noted for the Dewey Decimal system in library science to always be their guiding light.
Next you'll try to tell me that Miss Helen Sweetstory doesn't exist either. (Formerly Snoopy's favorite author)
