He had quite a lot of defenders on FR when he ditched his wife and four children - not to mention the state - to run off with a South American floozy. However, there has been no sign of them since he said something negative regarding Donald Trump.

🙄

I don't recall such supporters, of Sanford. I do remember him getting bashed, by MANY, here, for such foolish behavior.

What? Were there three fools who supported him/what he did?

Your antiTrumpness is showing, again. Give it a rest. Sounds almost like HELLary's lamentations.

“He was not “long-serving.” The former governor of SC, Mark Sanford had recently made a comeback as U.S. Representative.”

People forget, the likely reason that Sanford won the U.S. Representative seat the 1st time, was because he was running against Steven Colbert’s sister, a big-time liberal. People were likely desperate to not have her as the representative. Then as an incumbent it is easier to get elected again.

“Both proof you only need half a brain to be a congress critter.”

Nancy Pelosi is proof that you only need a tenth of a brain to be speaker of the house.

We got a word for that kind of odd in English, it’s called “suspicious”.

She also has injuries which required a major surgery to remove a portion of her small intestine and potion of her colon.

She'd likely be dead if she hadn't been wearing them, but that's a seatbelt injury from a severe impact.

Likely? Almost certainly! It was one hell of a thump!

There’s not that great of a difference between “likely” and “almost certainly.” Sounds like maybe 75% versus 90% to me.

I would have got with 65 vs 95% m’self.

The important thing is she survived, she has a bit of a battle ahead of her, but a couple weeks in the hospital and a few months of rehab vs being daid rat thar is worth a couple feet of innards!

Seat belt injuries are rarely discussed out of fear that people will stop using them. The worst would be a severe glancing impact down the side of the car. Think of where the shoulder harness is anchored and you’ll get the picture.

I was in an incident where I was sliding sideways on ice, looked to the left and saw the grill of a rapidly approaching SUV...

I bounced off the rear tire of a semi trailer once, same thing, flash freeze, one minute just wet, the next black ice. Like flipping a switch. Traffic just went wild all of a sudden including a few tractor-trailers.

I have a blank spot right there.

Looking at the assorted damages, he managed to spin his SUV, we met front fender to front fender, recoiled and met again rear fender to rear fender and spun again off the road.

I managed to walk away with a cracked rib, he, his wife and kid were OK, my car was totaled, his didn’t look all that great.

I often wonder if, in a quantum immortality sense, I was killed. I sure should have been given the last pre-collision moment I remember!

There was a 4-1/2 hour wait in the snow for the second tow truck. Good times, good times...

I didn’t realize she’s a Republican Congressional candidate....

Beat Mark Sanford for the nomination a week or so ago.

I don’t, despite being nearly 30 years ago I can still see it all in slow motion, even the hood rippling like water before it crumpled up to the windshield and watching the glass shards fly.

Not a single person here “defended” his idiotic behavior some of us just thought he didn’t deserve to get burned at the stake for it. I’m one of those weirdos that doesn’t get bent out of shape about a politician cheating like it has something to do with me. For every one that’s caught, ten aren’t.

I was against his resigning because he was a good Governor, well loathed by tax-happy RINOs in the legislature and adultery didn’t change that, also the LT Governor was a douche IIRC. A censure was the proper punishment for his “vacation”.

I don’t know why he was renominated for Congress but the voters that knew him best made that decision, they must not have liked Curis Bostic. After that he was running against Stephen Colbert’s sister (D) and the only rational thing to do was support his election.

And I haven’t gone anywhere, I was calling for his ouster over his deranged democrat-aiding Never Trumpism, which is a 100 times worse than poorly covering up an affair.
