Lowcountry elected official Katie Arrington is in a local hospital after she and a friend were seriously injured in a deadly wreck in Charleston County late Friday night, authorities say.
Arrington, 47, has undergone surgery for treatment of her injuries, and is recovering in a local hospital, spokesman Michael Mule confirms.

Arrington and her friend, Jacqueline Goff of Louisiana, were traveling southbound on U.S. Highway 17 around 9 p.m. Friday night, when another driver traveling in the wrong direction hit Goff and Arrington's vehicle, according to the Charleston County Sheriff's Office.
Goff and Arrington suffered serious injuries requiring hospitalization, but the driver of the other wrong-way vehicle died at the scene, CCSO spokesman Capt. Roger Antonio says. The Charleston County Sheriff's Office has not yet identified the deceased.

Those were grim days. Rush had Schwarzenegger down cold on what Arnold as Governator would mean for California. Not enough listened. McClintock supporters were splitters and worse. Ahnold promised to wrangle the “girly-men” ruining California and a lot of people believed him. Instead he joined them!
That's entirely possible. There was lots of discussion then, and additional commentary when he reemerged as a Congressional candidate.
They are! In so many similar stories, it’s the drunk driver that miraculously survives and the passengers in the other vehicle that pay with their lives.
Almost 40,000 people die in car crashes every year.
Now, if she committed suicide with two to the back of the head in Ft. Marcy Park...

The editor was taking a nap. Interesting that there are no pics of the accident scene. Not from the media or social media.
In the case of my aunt and uncle who were also hit head-on and killed on the highway, it was a case of someone who tried to commit suicide.
The guy started drinking, got on the highway, then crossed a grassy median and turned off his headlights. His tank of a van hit my aunt and uncle’s vehicle a couple of miles later. Airbags and safety belts were useless. They were killed and then burned in the explosion. He survived.

Horrible. I couldn’t imagine a family going through that.
Suspect they know who the perp is and are scrubbing social media before revealing.
If stopping Stephen Colbert’s sister from becoming a government official was wrong, I didn’t want to be right. Sanford screwed himself and the people by refusing to vote as a conservative as he said he would.
But, again, driving here has become Death Race 2018 and it is a gamble whether you’ll make it home just going down the street to get a loaf of bread.
