Campaigns to secede from U.S., divide into new states compete for support
As far as Paul Preston is concerned, three Californias is one California too many.
The vice president and co-founder of the New Californiamovement, Mr. Preston wants to see the state divided in two along rural-urban lines, not split into three under venture capitalist Tim Drapers Cal 3 initiative, which goes before the voters in November.
With Draper, he makes sure every area has an urbanized zone that will ultimately be blue. You still have the rural-urban thing going on in his formula, said Mr. Preston, who lives in Yuba City. The rural people will be shafted again.

The Union got around it. The Union army occupied Alexandria, so they woke up the City Council in the middle of the night, declared them the Virginia legislature (probably not legal, for a number of reasons), and told them they could go home only after approving the bill to create West Virginia.
One could reasonably argue that West Virginia is illegal.
Right down the middle, longitudinally. Thats the ticket.
Yup, this is the one I like.
Just encourage them to secede from the union, THEN, split up into three states...”The United States of California”.
Sign NO trade deals with them, cut off all Federal funds, and demand visas, passports, and quotas for them to come to the USA, even for a visit.
IF they don’t want to be part of American, let’s give them their wish.
Leave them with nothing but their sunshine.
Now, if they wanted to combine two prior proposals and split in three, to include the State of Jefferson as proposed in the 2013 Six Californias plan and the State of South California, as proposed in 2011, that might be a very amenable plan.
I don’t remember what the six-part division was, or when it was. I only know I disected the county-by-county division the Cal-3 proposal is asking for, and I did not see it, in my view, as necessarily in favor of Conservatives. To me, not enough of Liberal coastal California was left out of the new “California” and put into “Northern California”. They also put too much that is north of the southern California mountain ranges into “Southern California” instead of leaving all that is north of those mountain ramges in “California”. If they had only had those two major diferences, I think both “Northern California” and “Southern California” would have had a bit more of a Conservative demographic; if not majorities. The current Cal-3 proposal splits off too many Liberals among the three parts, likely helping them to retain majorities there.
Also, the Cal-3 proposal ballot measure is not a measure putting choices of different break ups on the table. It only puts one thing before the state legislature - just the Cal-3 proposal. Frankly I do not think it will pass. Disgruntled is one thing, feeling like they know what Cal-3 will mean is another. I think most people are unsure and therefor insecure about it.
unless they give the farm country its own section this is just a power grab by leftists...
if the leftist succeed in grabbing more rat senate seats, then we’ll need to dump western Wash and western Oregon into their own hell....NYS can be divided too...as well as Ohio and Michagan...even Mass could be cut up...
Here is a Wikipedia article about proposals to divide California. It has maps of several proposals.
If they wanted to divide by establishing the State of Jefferson, as proposed in the Six Californias plan, and the State of South California, as proposed in Jeff Stone’s 2011 plan, that division would work for us.
Once they kill the current ridiculous plan, someone ought to propose what I’ve suggested above.

Sounds like California needs a civil war to make that work. And, by the way, Virginia had to apply for readmission to the Union after the war. I don’t see any reason to allow any little slave state Californias back into the Union. Maybe Mexico or China will take them.
Here’s my proposal: Northern California, Eastern Washington and Oregon into the state of Jefferson, Seattle to LA to Mexico (
In exchange for them to build the wall) Central Valley, Palm Springs and San Diego as The state of California. Like it?
Thanks E. Pluribus Unum. It's adorable that he sounds surprised.
