“...Conquest was not on my fathers and mothers minds when they came to this wonderful country....”
Your mother and father - as were MY great-great-grandparents - were not the same as what’s coming here now. Not even in the same class nor category.
They came here the right way, LEGALLY, became PART of America.
I’m assuming your folks didn’t waltz across the border, jump into the welfare system, and become a drain on resources; they came here, worked their asses off to build a better life for you, and did so legally. They got in line, became Citizens, and didn’t expect US to change our language, our culture, our traditions, etc., to accommodate them.
And I grew up in Philly too. My neighborhood was FULL of Polish, Ukrainian, German, Irish, Italian folks who were MORE American than anything else.
There is a vast difference between that and what’s happening at our southern border. Not even in the same league.
It is so different now, that I have a really hard time feeling anything close to sympathy.
They should DO IT THE RIGHT WAY...IT’S THE ONLY WAY.
But, they don’t want that. I can’t believe they are so brazen as to think they would be welcomed.
