So said President Donald Trump, on issuing his order halting the separation of children from parents caught breaking into the country. Trump’s enemies are celebrating a victory. Yet the issue remains.
Under U.S. law, teenagers and tots cannot be detained for more than 20 days and must be held in the least-restrictive facilities. But if the children cannot be separated from the parents as they await trial, both will have to be released to keep families together.
We are back to “catch and release.”
When that welcome news hits Central America, the migrant stream moving north will become a river that never ceases to flow.
The questions America and the West face might thus be framed:
Is there a liberal, progressive, Christian way to seal a 2,000-mile border, halt millions of migrants from crossing it illegally and send intruders back whence they came? Or does the preservation of Western nations and peoples require measures from which liberal societies today reflexively recoil?
Does the survival of the West as a civilization require a ruthlessness the West no longer possess?
Consider what our fathers did to build this country.

Mark Steyn also did an excellent job of identifying the problem in “America, Alone” in 2006. It’s a very timely book and still relevant.
It's called "realism." White birth rates are collapsing in the U.S. Millennials aren't getting married or having kids like generations before did. PC has infected a substantial fraction of the population, often as a result of leftist capture of schools and churches. We've had fifty or sixty years of open borders and no politician has the will to speak out against it. Teddy Kennedy sponsored the change in immigration law in the 60s that opened the country to non-Europeans. Very few speak the obvious truths that immigration should be for the benefit of the receiving country. Trump is the last of a generation of leaders like him. One or two generations of young people have been inculcated and indoctrinated in the ridiculous beliefs that no culture is better than another and we have no rights to keep anybody out. There are a few glimmers of hope - Eastern Europe, Italy, President Trump, a slowly building resurgence of nationalism and patriotism. But almost no Congress critters support president Trump and nobody speaks plainly to defend Western Civilization from the onslaught. The word is out in the Southern Hemisphere that the Northern Hemisphere is ripe for take-over and invasion...plus they won't repel the invaders. Call that "Debbie Downer" if you like, but it is all cold, hard fact. Wishing people would not expose facts and reality is like an ostrich putting his head in the sand. Only after understanding what is going on, who is driving it, and why can you be prepared to respond to your enemies' attacks. The enemy of liberalism and freedom is well organized and is a federation of a thousand groups. Our effort to push back (the Tea Party) was illegally fought by our own government and abetted by traitors like John McCain (today's news).
Good news is that since Trump has been elected things are starting to turn around. There is a lot to do but I see good happening. We are dealing with a desperate left.

That is what the evidence shows. Every institution is utterly controlled by those hoping to destroy our nation. Vacuous indoctrination through propaganda has driven out true knowledge in far too many areas. You are not allowed to question it without being shamed or attacked.
I have no doubt that Roccus, like me, will go down with the ship before surrendering. But we don’t have any illusions about where we are.
You are correct about the apathy of the electorate and I might add it has been caused by the belief that it does not matter enough to vote. No one is trusted to change things.
The fact that such a question has to be addressed shows that we are in no way a “Debbie Downers” or even “Nattering nabobs of negativity.”
We have turned our backs to God and this is the result.

The problem is, many of them don’t know what the West is (meaning they don’t know it defines everything about their own lives) and they don’t know who their enemies are.

My point is, Buchanan has misread the problem. It’s not a lack of will to preserve the West, it’s a complete cluelessness about what’s going on.
Since around the 1960s, many in this country have been brainwashed to think we should “be just like Sweden,” to use a common viewpoint.
But they don’t know much about reality. They’ve been brainwashed.
The question is not is there a will to preserve the West. The question is what will the breakdown of response be as the people of the West continue to figure out they’ve been swindled.
What has happened in Sweden and what’s happening in Sweden, and in the rest of western Europe, is not stable. Meaning unpredictable.
So far, that isn't the case. The globalist leaders of almost all these countries, with certain exceptions like Trump and Orban, continue to extol multiculturalism and mass immigration. Political correctness and tribal politics still reign.

There is no doubt that our educational system and MSM are "brainwashing" the populace. Anyone who opposes the transformation of America thru demography and our immigration policies is branded a racist. At some point, they win. Where is the outrage and resistance? We are no longer the same country demographically or culturally. We are being colonized by the Third World.

We will just agree to disagree. The will to protect our patrimony is being sapped and destroyed by our leaders and elites. By 2019, half of the children 18 and under will be minorities. And each cohort that follows will be more minority than the previous one. Minorities consider themselves victims of America's racism. The Founding Fathers were racist white men. Most immigrants don't feel any identification or connection with our fore-bearers except as victims.
You want to know what’s really interesting?
For centuries, we’ve all gone along with shifting power. Shift a little left, shift a little right. Keeps us going straight. Got no issue with that, it’s common sense. You drift too far in one direction, our system naturally corrected course.
Now what do we have.
A bunch of kids brought up on that everybody gets a trophy BS and leftie leanings for the majority of their lives.
So when our system said....hold on...let’s stop a minute and bunker up. See what we got.

This is nothing more than the usual ebb and flow....trouble is, last time the tide went out....all the kids were used to that leftie full pool.
