Q: Isnt there be a better way to renew your license and get a REAL ID from the DMV without waiting for hours even with an appointment?

I always dreamed of going back to California, having lived there as a child. Now that will never happen, and it hurts.
A friend of mine - a girl who jumped out of airplanes (with a parachute)- used to be stationed in Guam. She said that when she was there she had a rusted out old full-sized American car, which she referred to as a “Guam bomb”.
Louisiana got an extension and delayed implementation of Real ID but they begin giving out real id in October.
“I thought most all states let you renew by mail. “
At least read the part of the article posted.
I had to get my license renewed last week. Couldn’t get an appointment until the end of July, so I had to go in. I drove by 3 separate times and there was always a huge line. Drove from San Jose to Gilroy, hoping to go faster and it took 5 1/2 hours.
Midway through, I was starving because I had skipped breakfast. I remembered there was an El Pollo Loco next door, so I ran over and got food.
After 2 hours, I found out that I didn’t have the info for real ID and I’d have to come back for that. We are moving to another state next year, so I’ll just get my license there.
How can a state with all the latest technology gave a state government that is so backward and inefficient.
Ya walk into a CA DMV and it has more cash registers than a Super Walmart. Or they make it convenient for ya, where they can confiscate your cash on-line.
Nevada has interesting DMV set up you check with your cell phone number and they it text your phone telling you where you are and in line
You can leave just long as you get back before your number comes up that usually gives time and you can text back for updates
Missouri’s present license is non compliant with Real ID. They received an extension and will begin giving out Real ID in October
I would tell you the DMV office I go to (never longer than a 5 minute wait), but I don’t want a bunch of out of county deadheads starting to show up there.
lot of cars on guam have heater delete..no heater closets have light bulbs for mildew (hot locker) and in rainy season there is green slime on the grass first slip and slide.. lol.
I notice in my area one of our DMV offices is opening 1/2 day on Saturday due to overload.

What if you don’t text——will they call?
.
It’s the biggest racket on earth. They force people to pay to register the same vehicle, over and over and over...Don’t matter if all your data is the same, you’re at the same address, same vehicle, no title change, no changes whatsoever, but ya have to once again pay to register that same vehicle..They’ve created an entire costly, wasteful bureaucracy to perpetuate this redundant insanity.
Seriously though I can't because I keep getting a pop up telling me I'm using an ad bloc and it will cost me to read the article.
I see, a real ID being one of those ones you need to fly. Thanks for pointing that out to me.
No, this is all on Brown and the Caliph-phony-a legislature. It took the buffoons in Sack-a-tomatoes until early this year to set up the procedures to get a Real ID. And, if it wasn't going to become mandatory to use this ID (or a passport) by 2020, we probably still wouldn't have the procedures in place.
After all, it's far more important to build trains to nowhere and give illegals more rights and privileges than natural-born citizens than it is to implement a government plan in less than 15 years!

That's it.
I think there is a large difference between different DMV offices.
In the same city I found that while one was indeed a nightmare, another one was efficient and reasonable.
The trick is to find a good one, not easy.
In Alabama you can renew by mail or online.
