As much as we all hate taxes, I have never seen so many people whine over a sales tax. The battle is to be won by eliminating income tax and pay higher sales tax.

We will see how it comes out. But think of PayPal. They take 3% from the seller so a small time operator can take credit cards. They'll just charge them another 1% (or more) to collect the sales tax from he buyer and send it in. I'm not saying that's good, but I just see it working out that way. As for your other point, gun control nuts are going to see it as a feature, not a defect. Someone outside the US needs to set up and serve these marginalized businesses.
