A joint committee from House Ove rsight and House Judiciary are conducting a hearing today at 10:00am EDT with DOJ Inspector General Michael Horowitz. Unlike the Senate Judiciary Committee hearing yesterday the House team has representatives far more knowledgeable of the issues. Hopefully, expertise will deliver better questions.
Judiciary Chairman Bob Goodlatte has direct primary oversight authority over the DOJ. Chairman Trey Gowdy comes from the aggregate Oversight/Reform Committee. Far more House members have read the 568-page IG report. Due to a better informed group of members we are more optimistic for detailed, specific, confrontational and challenging questions to draw out the key issues. Sunlight is the best disinfectant.

Did the Democrats have to pass a stupid test to get on this committee? All I see are some of the dumbest members of Congress sitting there. I’ll have to mute most of this hearing.
Trey was a very good Prosecutor, Linda Grahamnasty was a good JAG Officer and did good work in the Clinton Impeachment. I suspect Desantos will rip the report apart too.
However, on social issues some of them stink badly...
The investigators were biased, went thru the motions knowing they would let her off, then they let her off. Clearly, even the blind can see the investigation should be reopened.
Yes, he did well in ripping apart the "no bias" narrative and brought up a huge pile of it.
Yes, Gowdy is a really good lawyer and these hearings show him at his prosecutorial best. Unfortunately, his skills are wasted in Congress because their kabuki theater act always goes nowhere. Will it be different this time around? I hope so, but doubt it....
