“I’m Italian and I am embarrassed by the Cuomo Family.
I had more respect for the Gotti Family.”

I’m not Italian but am also embarrassed by the Cuomos...that they are Americans.

My grandmother & her family were all from Marietta! 5 of my aunts, uncles, & cousins graduated from Marietta College. It’s where I met my husband ; ) During college I worked at a restaurant on the river & during the riverboat fest it was insane! My friends & I used to lazily tube down the river......memories.

We used to walk across the bridge over to Williams town, WV to a little Italian place.

The funny thing is that US airlines are cutting back on their flights to Cuba that they obtained after Obama reestablished diplomatic relations. Many airlines are downsizing from mainline to regional jets, and some are cancelling routes entirely.

Plus one

Though he did aggravate me cause he didn’t treat every backwater with such respect

My home state for example

I always loved “No Reservations”. Especially the one where Bourdain went to Ted Nugents ranch and shot a full auto rifle. And every episode with his crazy Russian friend Zamir.

For all his faults and weakness.. Bourdain was a better representative of America than Obama.

I am so ashamed of Obama.

At the very beginning of Anthony Bourdain's West Virginia show he had a special message for New York liberals. To paraphrase him, it was something like this: "And if you don't like these people and their culture, I have a message for you: screw you!".

What we call Italian food here and what you get from Lugano to Messina are two different things

We inherited Italian family dinner food that has evolved in the land of plenty

I like both

Seafood in Portofino or fried whole sardines in Palermo with dunking bread or Roma thin bubbly pizza or Tuscan meats and veggies

Best Italian food here is probably mamas kitchen as y’all said

I’ve had good Italian in Brooklyn and I used to like Luna when I lived in the city

But I telll ya I’ve had great Italian in The Hill St Louis. Serious Italian enclave

Of course the north end Boston

And New Orleans which once was the largest Sicilian community in America does ok
Creole stuffed eggplant at Mandinas and lots of little Italian joints plus Domenica at the Roosevelt

High end Italian is another topic and is good too but not cheap

Factory Kitchen which serves that Italian in the bums warehouse section of Los Angeles is incredible

I’m eating there next week

It was a joke.

They do the same stuff to trump.

It’s NY snark, they have snark in Tx too, some folks just don’t get the joke.

Not sure why bourdain killed himself, but I found him immensely entertaining for a NYC liberal.

Not nearly as insufferable as most of them.

I think you can find good Italian or Italian American food all over the country now. I had an excellent ragout in Alabama last month. And I just ate at a northern Italian called Sandro’s on the Upper East Side a week ago and it was fantastic. Just an in-house made ravioli in a thick cheese sauce - to die for.

My husband is Sicilian-American so I no longer dare to cook Italian at home. I’m lucky that way.

Technically is Sicily, Italy? Corsica? Local opinions may vary.

Not sure what La Maddelena is at all... :)

As of today (and maybe since Garibaldi’s time, I’m not sure) Sicily has been part of Italy. Beautiful isle!

Riding a ferry from a submarine anchorage in la Maddalena to Palou was barf inducing LOL.

the ride in the mini cooper on dirt roads to Rome was a hoot.

I liked Bourdains shows, heck I disagree with just about every one on some level.

The guy had a gift and squandered it, Sad.
