I can still remember when I was about 9 or 10 and I was part of a group of boys throwing snowballs at passing cars. Unknown to us, one of the cars pulled around the corner and a very angry man came up behind us. He grabbed one of my friends by the collar, as he was about to hurl another snowball, and shoved him into a snowbank. Then he proceeded to lecture the rest of us as we stood there frozen in fear, as melting snowballs fell from our hands. As he stormed away, we scattered like the wind. To my knowledge, none of us ever said a word to any of our parents about it.
We also never threw snowballs at cars again.
Your story played out exactly as it should in a sane world. Teaching respect for elders is key but unfortunately schools teach just the opposite now because elders tend to have those pesky conservative opinions. The liberal teachers union feels it’s better to teach kids that the older generations are foolish and dumb and to be fully discounted to make way for their brave new world.
