FBI Director Christopher Wray told reporters Thursday afternoon that he was "disappointed" by the findings of the Justice Department office of inspector general's (OIG) report on the bureau's conduct during the 2016 election, saying that the bureau accepted its recommendations.
As far as the report goes, there are some sobering lessons in there, Wray said in a brief press conference held shortly after the 500-page report was made public. Number one, the importance of trying to make sure we avoid even the appearance of bias in all of our work."
But he also voiced support for the integrity of the bureau as an institution, tacitly defending the law enforcement agency from months of broadsides from President Trump and other Republicans who have damned it as corrupt and biased.
The OIG report makes clear that weve got some work to do, Wray said. But lets be clear on the scope of this report. Its focused on a specific set of events back in 2016, and a small number of FBI employees connected with those events.
Nothing in the report impugns the integrity of our workforce as a whole, or the FBI as an institution.

Trump has the power, but obviously lacks the Courage or the will to really take on the Deep-State. His “Briefing” by Rosenstein today was for me the last straw.
I’m frustrated.
To allow this to continue any further is to put America in fatal jeopardy IMO.
This is bad.
“Ladies and gentlemen of the jury... My client, the defendant, is a Republican. That tells you all you need to know about the credibility of the FBI testimony in this case.”
You know when the fix is more sensitivity training, that nothing is fixed.
No criminal referrals in this whitewash. Just referring a few agents to OPR which does nothing. This HR process takes years and the most that will be done is they will be fired or retired.
Right now, the FBI is lower on the ladder of public respect and integrity than NAMBLA and ISIS. Wray sure doesn’t help matters in that regard.
The pentegon needs to do an air strike on the FBI HQ.
What you are seeing is the Obama/Holder DOJ in action. After 8 years we have nothing but seditious bastards at the top.
I am now rooting for the Mafia. The ‘Mob’ could clean house for us we’d really appreciate it. Just business.
The Mafia has more integrity.
What’s amazing is not ONE patriot has resigned and run his mouth. We are dealing with Nazi’s.
"The principle for which we contend is bound to reassert itself, though it may be at another time and in another form."
There has to be a highly respected former FBI Assistant Director that supports President Trump and the law to turn this dysfunctional organization around. Wray was obviously a very bad choice.
The IG report and the Wray response was Comey 2.0........what a rotten politically biased morass the fbi has become....swamp creatures......but Wrays response is sort of yeah but at least its not too bad and we are sending our agents to class so they can learn to conduct unbiased investigations...wtf man...
Wray should be fired.
Yeah, ok. Translation: in the future, the swamp will keep doing the same things, theyll just do a better job of covering it up...
The FBI has 35,000 + employees that they tell us about, and I believe it grows by around 300 employees a year. The Budget is almost 9 billion dollars they deign to reveal. I serious doubt anything will change.
Freegards
The IG report should have been cause for a rash of immediate firings.
Strong action to purge the bad ones and clean the mess up are the indicators that matter - working with the DOJ to prosecute the real bad apples would be excellent. Too early to say anything definite yet as the web keeps unraveling to show more and more of the overall picture.
