Tuesday brought another set of primaries across the country in Maine, South Carolina, Nevada, North Dakota and Virginia and another set of surprises. Here are the night's winners and losers.
Winners
President Trump: It's overly simplistic to say that South Carolina GOP congressman Mark Sanford lost his primary Tuesday because of Trump. But Trump was definitely a factor in making Sanford the second House Republican in 2018 to lose a primary. The president sent off this remarkably caustic tweet on Tuesday afternoon, as voters in South Carolina were getting off work and going to vote.

It is. And that’s how Donald sometimes seems to act. With the only beginnings of a breather being his occasional “God bless America.”
If we somehow had all the answers to make our age go, but failed to give the glory to God — those answers would in fact be incomplete.
And I pray God, I might be balanced here. Something good is glimmering through the present Donald Trump. I would be a fool to deny it. Is it the ultimate state of possible leadership? I say not. I think there’s room for more, but we must choose to be humble enough to kneel before God when asking it — not before Donald.
If he took your take on things, he would not be where he is. Obviously he has the winning strategy. I understand what you’re saying however, we must have him in this position and if he were to be as you say he should, he would not be where he is now.
God can exercise prevenient grace. My warning is exactly in line with scripture to say don’t expect the tune to carry on in just this manner forever. Don’t equate mercy to rights.
