Signor Conte... Can someone pronounce his last name for me?
Thanks Rummyfan.
Love Steyn’s excellent closing line: “This is the aging of the dawn of Aquarius.”
Former Soviet satellites in E Europe are closed to immigrants and shutting mosques. Denmark is turning unfriendly to them. Italy is closing its doors. Sweden is beginning to pay immigrants if they want to fly back home to stay.
There will be blood on Euro streets before this is over.
"When you're a childless kleptocrat convinced the oceans will drown us all out in twenty years why would you care about the future implications of your policies?"

English Translation: Meddlers Without Borders
Spot on as always. Hard though it may be for most Americans to believe, the Establishment is even more entrenched and obnoxious in most of Europe. The protections of individual rights are fewer (thank the Founders for their wisdom in enshrining a bill of rights in the constitution). Most of Europe was not so fortunate as to have a Thomas Jefferson, George Mason, Patrick Henry, et al).
“when culture - and the survival of a culture - becomes political, chit-chat about tax cuts or this or that social program...”
Sounds like your average GOPe.
Giuseppe Conte = You-Sep-Pay Cone-Tay
Are you questioning a typo?
@GiuseppeConteIT is just a twitter handle with IT perhaps suggesting his Italian roots?
Maybe I’m missing something?
Charlie (Char Lee)

Con as in conman...
Te as in tay-lor...
Con-tay....
Indeed.
And just about every European leader is a childless adult - May, Merkel, Macron.... Strange yes?
Meddlers without Boundaries, one might even say.
Thanks for bringing Mark Steyn back to my attention. Some Steynisms from the aticle:
“Brexit is being transformed into some Hotel California type of EU membership: You can check “Out” any time you like, but you can never leave.”
“poll question: “How serious a threat to Europe is the rapid population growth of Muslims?” Those who thought it a very or somewhat serious threat:
Belgium 72 per cent;
Netherlands 71 per cent;
Germany 70 per cent;
France 68 per cent;
United Kingdom 63 per cent.
When a policy concern of 65 to 70 per cent of the people is regarded as unmentionable by all mainstream parties, you have a crisis of democracy.”
The article includes some useful links, including one to Steve Bannon (yes that Steve Bannon) published by the Spectator. I have to give it a mixed review.
I disagree with Bannon’s presentation that stockholders have benefitted on the backs of workers. No one seems to care when stocks are in the doldrums for a decade. But when stocks go up over ten years, it’s an outrage. And the big jump happened after the election of President Donald J. Trump!
I thought it was Cun-tay
There will be concentration camps in Europe before this is over. The question is Who will be running them?
