Bingo or cut it into 1/4’s and the pit literally falls out of the last 1/4...
I have a great avocado tool ( one end extracts the pit, the other end slices and then removes the slices ), that I bought about 30 years ago; they aren't a new gadget at all and it works very well. And you can get them from many different venues at all price levels. :-)
