I have a great avocado tool ( one end extracts the pit, the other end slices and then removes the slices ), that I bought about 30 years ago; they aren't a new gadget at all and it works very well. And you can get them from many different venues at all price levels. :-)
Oh it gets better, you can peel the skin off really easy after you cut it into 1/4's. it avoids scooping out the flesh of the avocado and scraping against the skin. Try it !
