Jeffrey Scott Kirschenmann attempted to register an AR-15 with the California Department of Justice last month but instead found himself in significant legal trouble. The California DOJ accused Kirschenmann of illegally modifying the rifle he attempted to register. Law enforcement officials raided his home in Bakersfield before ultimately confiscating a dozen firearms and a few hundred rounds of ammunition, then charging him with a dozen felonies
.

.
The National Rifle Association said Kirschenmann's ordeal is proof that even those who attempt to comply with California's gun laws can still get caught up in them.
"California residents attempting to comply with the Golden State's ever-increasing swamp of firearms laws and regulations should take warning,"

This California action is going to wonders for compliance with the law. /S
Moral of the story:
Leave your firearms UNDOCUMENTED. Moonbeam loves the "undocumented".
Their intention is to take guns from non-violent, law-abiding citizens. They pass laws that declare innocent, law-abiding citizens to be criminals, and then they prosecute the innocent, law-abiding citizens and declare that they are fighting crime.
Violent criminals are left alone, and are allowed to keep their illegal guns.
no, the moral is do not live in California (with apologies to California Freepers)
I wonder what would have happened, if the guy had an hours notice that they were coming?
What does “shall not be infringed” mean?
The Nazi “democrats” in Cauliphonya have gone full retard.
I’ll bet this friggin’ wetback just loves pushing gringo Americans around and pissing on our Constitution and Bill of Rights.
No doubt this action will cause many considering compliance to stop dead.
It illuminates the Cali-fascists true intent - eliminate 2A and gun ownership.
In the current climate, that logic is defective.
Threat exists in every state at this time with few exceptions.
“Stand your ground” has new meaning.
He should have just gone for a nice relaxing afternoon boating on the lake.
Apparently, not as much as "shall not modify" does.
More to come, FReepers, much more to come. East Germany and the Stasi have come to America & settled in California.
GVRO/Red Flag laws are proliferating since Parkland though so far only in blue (meaning commie-red) states.
Now this guy sacrificed himself by trusting in the impartial rule of law, and that’s truly regretful. But Red Flag laws have nearly eliminated the consequences of committing perjury (false statement to police or a judge) and now make it possible for any disgruntled person with a grudge to denounce any gun owner they don’t like. Worst penalty for lying? A misdemeanor & 30 days of community service.
And due process? Fuggedaboudit, the accused will only learn that he is accused when the police are banging on his door, GVRO in hand.
National confiscation is politically impossible; Obama found that out. But confiscation one citizen at a time? You’re seeing it folks. Sure hope the NRA/ILA can challenge GVRO laws in court.
“In truth, anti-gun advocates value registration only so far as it creates an additional barrier to gun ownership and enables confiscation.”
That nailed it.
I predict a rash of tragic boating accidents.
Apparently, it is part of a larger sentence - arms shall not be in 'fringed' carrying cases"
Never register your weapons.
“A good faith effort to obey the state’s labyrinthine firearm rules will not spare a gun owner in technical violation of the law from the wrath of the California Department of Justice.”
A labyrinthine with no exit apparently.
My inlaws just moved out of CA recently. Last time I was there, we opened my FIL gun safe(s). We counted over 1000 years in prison for his collection since 1950. Luckily escaped from enemy lines and lives in freedomville USA (Idaho).
If he used the rifle to rob a bank I bet these gun charges would not be part of the case.
