Eh. I don’t think that is it. I think the USS Pueblo should be buried at sea, out in the Pacific. Cut her rusty veins and let the water run in.
I admit to being sentimental about ships. I have always felt, even from when I was a kid, that they were more than just metal and gray paint. It has always made me melancholy to see rusty old warships just waiting to be broken up.
I saw a picture some yeas back of a WWII heavy cruiser being cut up for scrap, and they had taken her bow off back to turret #1. It bothered me. There was something more to it than just blowtorches cutting off metal...almost as if a face had been disfigured by cutting off the nose.
But I know it is just sentimentality. It is a flaw I have.
I have wondered what we would do with the Pueblo if we ever got her back. Would she wind up a museum ship or would she be destroyed? If we get her back, she should be kept as a museum ship. I’d love to see her.
In almost all cases only one of two fates await a ship. The bottom or the breakers. You may be right, the deep six would be a more fitting end for her then the breakers torch.

I believe you're right on that, the main thing is to recover her and get her out of North Korea.
