Jeff Sessions Struggles to Get Planned Marijuana Crackdown Going
The Wall Street Journal ^ | June 10th, 2018 | By Sadie Gurman and Natalie Andrews

Posted on 06/10/2018 12:03:33 PM PDT by Mariner

Attorney General Jeff Sessions vowed to use federal law to get tough on marijuana, announcing in January he was ending Obama-era protections for the nascent pot industry in states where it is legal. Six months into his mission, he is largely going it alone.

Mr. Sessions’ own prosecutors have yet to bring federal charges against pot businesses that are abiding by state law. And fellow Republicans in Congress, with support from President Donald Trump, are promoting several bills that would protect or even expand the legal pot trade.

As a result, Mr. Sessions, an unabashed drug warrior, has struggled to make his anti-marijuana agenda a reality, a notable contrast with the success he has had in toughening law-and-order policies in other criminal justice areas.

Marijuana advocates say Mr. Sessions’ approach, in seeking to spur a crackdown on the legal marijuana market, has largely backfired. It has catalyzed bipartisan support for research, they say, and for action to improve the young industry’s access to banks, which have been generally unwilling to accept proceeds from pot sales.

This is like a rancher loosing 5 head of cattle a night and hiring people to arrest that rat snake stealing two chicken eggs a night.

He’s finishing up on the indictments of Obama, Clintons, and Lynch and Rice. Takes up all of his time.

The only part of the headline that's correct:

"Jeff Sessions Struggles..."

Struggles to do 2% of what he's supposed to be doing in that office. Struggles to appear to be doing something useful for the U.S. Struggles to look the other way while the Deep State fiddles.

Just why do WE need to "struggle" along with this loser?

Sessions' DOJ is in an active coup against eh United States and he wants to go after weed.

Something the President, nor the Congress, nor the vast majority of the American people want.

What's wrong with this guy?

Here is another theory: Sessions is playing the bad cop role.

Trump cannot do nothing, so Sessions is a place holder who takes the blame for doing nothing.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions vowed to use federal law to get tough on marijuana...

Yeah, he's going to have a tough time cracking down on marijuana laws with no funding from Congress per the Rohrbacker-Blumenauer amendment, previously known as the the Rohrabacher-Farr amendment.

The Rohrabacher-Blumenauer amendment, is an amendment to the annual appropriations bill that prohibits the Department of Justice from using federal funds to interfere with state-legal medical marijuana programs.

On Jan. 12, 2018, a bipartisan group of 69 members sent a letter to Congressional leadership urging them to include the McClintock-Polis amendment in the appropriations bill as well. Introduced by Reps. Tom McClintock (R-Calif.) and Jared Polis (D-Colo.), its language is similar the Rohrabacher-Blumenauer amendment’s, but it would also protect legal state recreational cannabis programs.

It’s 27-D chess. It’s Trump-Sessions plan to free America from the oppression of marijuana. There are 40,000 sealed indictments of anti-marijuana enforcers for civil rights violations. Trust Trump Trust. Sessions. Trust Rosenstein. Trust The Plan.

“What’s wrong with this guy? “

What’s really wrong is why the President is tolerating this feckless little turd. Trump should tell him in no uncertain terms, that he needs to stop f*cking around with the Marijuana issue. Better still, he should tell the little pr!ck “there’s the door, don’t get the knob stuck up your a$$ on the way out.”

Apparently Old Rip Van woke up thinking it’s still the 60s and a bunch of pot heads are trying to overthrow the government and interfere with our nice little war to shoot a bunch of Commies.

I remember AG Ed Meese could only go after Pornography, and let Reagan sign all kinds of amnesty laws with Ted Kennedy for illegals. Marc Levin was Meese’s Deputy AG
