Alice Marie Johnson to President Trump: 'I am going to make you proud'
CNN ^ | June 2018 | E. Greenberg, J. Lynch, N. Valencia

Posted on 06/09/2018 9:22:55 AM PDT by CondoleezzaProtege

Alice Marie Johnson's life changed on Wednesday -- and she has US President Donald Trump and Kim Kardashian West to thank.

And thank them she did as soon as she left an Alabama prison after 21 years behind bars.

"I feel like my life is starting over again," an emotional Johnson told reporters outside the prison in Aliceville.

Trump commuted the first-time nonviolent drug offender's life sentence on Wednesday, one week after Kardashian pleaded her case in an Oval Office meeting with the President.

"I am going to make you proud that you gave me this second chance in life. And I will not disappoint the American public or the world that has so much faith in me," Johnson told CNN.

"It means that someone finally saw me, someone finally heard me, someone had mercy on me -- and that was President Trump, and so I'm so thankful for him and what he's done."

Don’t forget the pardons long ago for the ones who went to Canada to avoid the draft.

Let’s stick with her dint do nuffin claim from your reliable source and call it quits.

From a “reliable source”....

Johnson has said she did not sell drugs or make deals, though she did admit to acting as an intermediary for those involved, passing along messages. She was given life in prison without parole.

“I did do something wrong,” Johnson previously told HuffPost. “But this [was] a bad choice in my life that has cost me my life.”

The odd thing is that she has served 21 years. In Europe a murder sentence will rarely draw even 20 years.

The average time served in the United States for murder is 71 months.

Sure this woman has served her time but remember just because a person was convicted of a non-violent offense does not mean they are not violent. Besides selling drugs that can easily kill (like fentanyl) is not non-violent in my book.

Will this be treat equivilently to Robert Kennedy convincing (bribing?) a judge to release MLK from jail on the eve of the 1960 election? That was where the Drmocrsts secured the black vote for the next 56 years. Will blacks now switch to Trump and his nstionalist wing of the Republican party? Stay tuned.

...Nobody gets sentenced to life without parole for being a bit player...

Not true. Mueller convicted 4 innocent men for murder in Boston, and then argued against parole every chance he had, even though he knew they were innocent.

There are many others just like her in the prison system. I would hope that Trump gives the others the same treatment if they have been model prisoners such as she. She has paid her debt to society plus interest. It was time for her to go back to her family.

It will be rather amusing to watch the liberal left define this as a bad thing.

“was a mistake and goes against his campaign promises”

Can you humor those of us who do not recall this specific campaign promise you are referring to?

Citation please.

President Barack Obama did not intervene in the case during his eight years in office because the Justice Department recommended denying Johnson's request for a commutation. Three requests were made -- one during his first term, two during his second -- but they never reached Obama's desk because he followed Justice Department recommendations, a senior Obama administration official told CNN.

Riiiight. Mr Black Defender. Mr On Top Of Things. Mr Brilliant.

Obama NEVER thought to ask his Justice Department for a list of people that were imprisoned on first time drug offenses. Didn't he speak of this often? Like ALL of the Democrats?

Democrats don't care about results; they only care about the soundbite.

Oh, and let me comment further. The requests for this lady's commutation never reached Obama's desk but the request for clemency for hardcore drug dealers sure as hell did and he LET THEM GO!!!!!

Democrats and Obama are lying sacks.

MAGA yes it is.

Next campaign slogan should be MAGA+ = Make America even greater.

In all honesty I had great trepidation about Trump as president. I of course voted for him as the alternative was Hillary the criminal.

Trump has exceeded all my expectations. He is Ronald Reagan on Steroids. In the last campaign I donated to Trump but did not involve myself with the campaign. I just wanted anybody but Hillary. In the next campaign I will of course donate but intend to be actively involved at the local level in his support.

The last president that was a true patriot of our great nation was Reagan. Today we have a new patriot, President Donald J Trump is his name. I will support him in every way I can. He has not been a disappointment.

Although governor of California, Reagan was an outsider to the Washington DC Swamp. Trump is our beloved Reagan again. Reagan was smooth and made the swamp do what he wanted but the swamp still existed. Trump is a street fighter from Queens. He is what we need today. Today it is one winner, The Swamp or Trump. I place my money on Trump.

Alice gets life
Hillary plods around the planet

So true. There are murderers who got a quarter of that time behind bars. Famous case here is of policeman Dan White only served about 5 years for murdering Mayor Moscone and Supervisor Milk in San Francisco. His release set off riots by gays. 5 years for double-murder, while Alice served 21 years. And Hillary is doing no time.

After he announced, I started some serious research on him. On August 14, 2015 I told my 2 boys at the tee box of the 1st hole (we were about to golf),”Remember this day, August 14, what I’m telling you. Donald Trump will be the next president.” They looked at me in disbelief, but they now remember that day.
