Count out Devante Smith-Pelly if the Washington Capitals win the Stanley Cup and are invited to the White House to celebrate with President Donald Trump.
"The things that he spews are straight-up racist and sexist," Canada's Postmedia quoted Smith-Pelly as saying Wednesday as the Capitals prepared for Game 5 against the Vegas Golden Knights. "Some of the things he's said are pretty gross. I'm not too into politics, so I don't know all his other views, but his rhetoric I definitely don't agree with. It hasn't come up here, but I think I already have my mind made up."
Smith-Pelly, one of two black Capitals players, is from the Toronto area. He spoke two days after Trump canceled the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles' visit to the White House, and a day after NBA stars LeBron James and Curry both said they wouldn't visit.
The Capitals lead the best-of-seven series 3-1, and can hoist the Cup on Thursday night.

I was flipping through the radio stations yesterday afternoon and landed on the sindicated D.L. Hugley show just in time to hear him commenting on ball players who go or refuse to go to the White House upon invitation from the president. He said that black ball players who do not go to the White House to visit Trump do so because Trump is a racist. Then he said that white ball players did not go to the White House to visit Obama because the white ball players were racist.

Trump seems to have a rather typically conservative view
of race. There is nothing particularly special about
black people......or red people....or brown people..
...or white people. What is special is persons, especially
American persons.
IOW - he's ignorant and hasn't the mind to realize it but has made that "mind" up about not liking Trump....all w/o having to actually think on it himself....and the surprise is it comes from someone named "Devante Smith-Pelly".....

Let’s just say that Pelly is probably not too thrilled with the results of the Ontario election last night.
4th line loser journeyman will see his stock drop considerably. Enjoy the ECHL, chump. Nothing people hate more than in inhumble ingrate.
And he hope he likes it when he’s spitting chiclets and the crowd is cheering the guy that rammed him into the boards.
If you look at the roster, most of the teammates were born in Canada or Europe, only a handful in the US. So they may share Smith-Pelly’s views, but who cares?
