I was never a fan of the pageant and saw it as “soft porn” for all intents and purposes, so I get her complaint. Still, it’s a bit like saying she’s glad the strip club she used to work in won’t have strippers any more.

Pageants should state what the alleged attributes of contestants are and how those alleged attributes are objectively measred to determine winners.

My late wife used to love watching them. It does seem they were prettier back in the 60s.
I can remember watching several state’s representative and thinking, “there were girls in my high school prettier than her”.

Sorry but political correctness manages to violate Darwinian law as well as divine law. An appreciation for an attractive woman is hard wired into the brain of men. “Beauty contests” were at their core an acknowledgement and manifestation of that biological reality. When such events have devolved into politically correct public interviews of essentially unattractive women, few will care or watch.
