Pope Francis has sent a birthday letter to Gustavo Gutiérrez, the Peruvian founder of Liberation Theology, thanking him for his theological service to the Church and humanity. I am writing to congratulate you for your 90th birthday and to assure you of my prayers in this important moment of your life, Francis wrote to Gutiérrez, who is a Dominican priest.
I join you in giving thanks to God, the pope continued, and I thank you as well for all that you have contributed to the Church and humanity through your theological service and your preferential love for the poor and the discarded members of society.
Thank you for all your efforts and for your way of appealing to the conscience of each person so that no one could remain indifferent before the drama of poverty ad exclusion, he wrote.
Liberation theology has been generally understood to be a marriage of Marxism and Christianity. What has not been understood is that it was not the product of Christians who pursued Communism, but of Communists who pursued Christians, Pacepa said.

Yeah right...
Get a life Francis...
The Commie Pope
Never thought I wouldn’t be a able to stand the leader of my faith!
Sad!!!!
The Catholic church’s chickens, have come home to roost.
Barf!
Liberation theology is Marxism in a thin, largely transparent, religious wrapper.
I’m not a Catholic, but I sympathize with you.
This guy is beyond laughable, and the folks under him seem to be a-okay with his actions. What a sad day for any reasoned religion.
This isn’t doing the church any good.
I go by the rule that when any religion self-destructs (seemingly) like this, it reflects poorly on religion in general.
Liberation Theology was an invention of the KGB.
Liberation theology created a disastrous confusion between the poor of the Scripture and the proletariat of Marx, resulting in a perversion of the Christian meaning of the poor. Liberation theology transformed the fight for the rights of the poor into a class fight within the ideological perspective of the class struggle.
In certain parts of Latin America, the recognition of injustice is accompanied by a pathos which borrows its language from Marxism, wrongly presented as though it were scientific language.
Pope Francis publicly praised Liberation Theology as a positive thing in Latin America.
In a lengthy interview with the leftist Spanish daily El País, the Pope said that Liberation Theology was a good thing for Latin America.
The highest ranking Soviet Cold War defector asserted that the KGB had created Liberation Theology, exporting it to Latin America as a means of introducing Marxism into the continent.
Ion Mihai Pacepa, a 3-star general and former head of Communist Romanias secret police who defected to the United States in 1978, has been called the Cold Wars most important defector. During the more than ten years that Pacepa worked with the CIA, he made what the agency described as an important and unique contribution to the United States.
Liberation theology has been generally understood to be a marriage of Marxism and Christianity. What has not been understood is that it was not the product of Christians who pursued Communism, but of Communists who pursued Christians, Pacepa said.
Financial Action: Decrease your contributions by a significant amount.
Political Action: Demand an accounting of all funds the Catholic Church in your diocese has and where it is going.
If these don't work, take action to dissolve the Roman Catholic Church in the United States and start your own Church. The money and assets don't belong to Rome. They belong to you.
Until you take action, this pope will fundamentally transform your church the way Obama tried with some success to do the same to our great country. As a former Catholic who left the Church over 30 years ago, if you do nothing the changes will become irreversible.
Yes it is certainly that!
Next thing you know this Pope will send a representative from the Vatican to a Bilderberg meeting someday. Possibly to lay the groundwork for the one world religion.
Oh, wait...
“Until you take action, this pope will fundamentally transform your church the way Obama tried with some success to do the same to our great country. As a former Catholic who left the Church over 30 years ago, if you do nothing the changes will become irreversible.”
Words of wisdom for sure. Especially the ‘irreversible’ part.
Yea...already happening!LOLOLOL
Well, I suppose that we can say that we can thank Arius for his contribution as he forced the Church to more thoroughly define and clarify (to the degree humanly possible) the meaning of the Second Person of the Holy Trinity. That is the ONLY way I can see any liberation theologian making a theological contribution. It should be a backhanded compliment.
The Pope is a fraud. I’m sorry, RC Freepers, but this guy is no spiritual leader.
He’s simply carrying the globalist agenda of his predecessors as the vatican has still been unwilling to detach itself from ‘Rome’ and all the comforts it affords them. And ‘Rome” will not detach because of the revenue source the vatican afford them.
In the manner of Jeff Sessions, the Pope seems to have lost his way and abandoned his mission.
...”the Pope seems to have lost his way and abandoned his mission.”....
Actually he’s exactly on point according to the vatican leaders.
The Angles (and Saxons) gave us Anglicanism; Luther started Lutheranism; and Calvin, Calvinism. And Menno Simon gave us the Mennonites, and Sun Myung Moon, the Moonies. That's an idea you can really take to the bank.
So yeah, go ahead and start your Wmileoism. All you really need is a website, a P.O. Box, a 501(c)(3) and a bank account.
I do recommend you get your own Scriptures, too, like the Mormons and the Muslims. At the very least, you need to insert some verses and make like God said, "Thou art Wmileo, and upon this Wm I will build my Church."
