David Hogg might not want to hold his breath while waiting for that $1 million donation from Publix.
Two weeks after the 18-year-old student activist called on Publix to atone for supporting a pro-National Rifle Association candidate by sending $1 million to the Parkland victims fund, the grocery chain has shown no indication that it plans to do so.
Publix spokeswoman Nicole Krauss confirmed that the company has not donated to the crowdfunding account, but highlighted the firms public-service activities at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, scene of the deadly Feb. 14 shooting.
While we have not contributed to the GoFundMe account, on April 3, more than 65 Publix associates, including our CEO & President [Todd Jones], spent our Publix Serves Day at Marjory Stoneman Douglas, said Ms. Krauss in an email.
We worked on several projects that were funded by Publix, including an herb/vegetable garden for the culinary program, beautification of common grounds and sodding, and landscaping a new yoga/meditation area for the students, she said. We hoped our efforts would help the students find comfort in each other and a peaceful place to reflect and meditate.
Publix landed in the center of the gun-control debate last month over its reported $670,000 in campaign contributions over three years to Florida agriculture commissioner Adam Putnam, a staunch NRA supporter whos running for the GOP gubernatorial nomination. The company suspended its political giving shortly before Mr. Hogg led a May 25 supermarket die-in, but has not asked Mr. Putnam to return the campaign checks or contributed to the GoFundMe account, which reached $8.8 million on Wednesday.

Hoggie has made his extortion very public.
This kid has the most “punchable” face I have ever seen!
LOL!...You live in Needles?................
Hogg has real talent as a bully. One would think he has had plenty of practice doing it. If these kids really want to stop school shootings, they should start by looking in the mirror.
THAT’S AN INSULT TO PAJAMA BOY!.................the original.................
Sounds like extortion to me. Hope Publix files charges. (But not holding MY breath!)
Are you kidding? His parents most likely are enjoying a big boost to their family income from G. Soros and his errand boys going indirectly to them through their trouble making son.
all publix had to do was wait out the protesters- they would have lost interest in about a week- but nope- publix had to cave in almost immediately
The Publix response to Hogg ought to go along the lines of “Stick it where the sun dob’t shine, Nancyboy.”
That is exactly the message we need to get out. These immature little shits want us to give up our rights in the mistaken belief it will protect them from the monsters they created.
exactly- publix should call authorities and state they feel threatened and that this punk is attempting to extort money from them if they don’t comply with his demands
He would enjoy that...................
Publix used to be my #1 store for grocery shopping and Super Target was #2. I reversed that after Publix caved in to boy Hogg.
I shouldn’t wish harm on anyone - but if I were to read one day that David Hogg was beaten up and robbed at some 7-11 at 2 in the morning, I’d laugh - a lot.
Maybe he self-swatted. If so, we may get to see that!
SHAME ON PUBLIX! I’ve decided to boycott Publix (we have several in the upstate)...Shame for them allowing these immature brats to disrupt the shopping of PAYING customers.
You can always tell how “serious” someone is based on the amount of wristbands they wear. This little twist is super “serious”.
I want twiggy arms Hogg to wrestle that Kent State gun chick.
It should do a charity event. Whoever wins picks the charity. Publix could sponsor that.
