With pardoned Alice Johnson shouting, 'I love you, President Trump!' - the left stews

Only on the left would we see the presidential pardon of a non-violent drug offender, a cause that up until now has been a Sorosian shibboleth, greeted with grumbles.

Why? Because President Trump took the initiative to get it done, hearing of the 63 year-old grandmother's plight from big-name celebrity Kim Kardashian. The left loathes Trump more than they value that woman and the cause she represents, so a good deed suddenly becomes a bad deed.

Here's how the left and its media minions took it, starting with the Guardian:

On Wednesday, Trump commuted the sentence of Alice Johnson, a 63-year-old great-grandmother who has spent over 20 years in prison for non-violent drug crimes. It’s the sort of pardon decision previous presidents might well have made, but his likely reason for doing so was uniquely Trumpian. He was lobbied last week by the reality star Kim Kardashian to release Johnson.

Trump has pardoned slightly fewer people than most recent presidents at this stage of presidency, but there is a theme to those he has deemed worthy of clemency. Most were considered by Trump as being unfairly persecuted by the “deep state”. They have been found, by FBI and DoJ investigations, to have obstructed justice, given false statements to investigators, or broken campaign finance.

Many have suggested that Trump is using his pardons as a tool in the Mueller investigation.

Ah, so it’s not about mercy to correct an injustice, it's just all about the Russia Russia Russia thang.

Oh, and tilt your head for this one, the Guardian helpfully adds:

Many in the White House are reportedly dismayed that a pardon was made in this manner, particularly one that flies in the face of the general government policy on drug

Thanks for going to the trouble to post all of that. There are still a few of us around who knew and remember those things, and much more. It is truly disheartening to realize that the general level of knowledge of these things on FR is so abysmally low.

You mentioned Ambrose Evans-Pritchard. I was fortunate to have the opportunity to talk with him during that time. He was the Washington Bureau Chief for the London Daily Telegraph, and did an outstanding job investigating the Clintons.

Instead of sitting in his Washington office and repeating the AP and other networks’ pablum stories, he actually rented a car and went to Arkansas and interviewed the original sources. Imagine that!

There is so much more, but wanted to keep it readable. They have been on their own rules/laws, since early Arkansas. This article kept it clean... their lives are/were anything but.

Arkansas was a crime ridden mafia state in the establishment part.. and they carried it to Washington DC. When crimes are overlooked, winked at, there are those who will partake and more will come there because they can. It turns into a place where you join and don’t live long.

That aritcle goes into Ron Brown and almost all the ones who died ‘mysteriously’ under their watch. What a way to live and sleep at night... I guess conscience is gone.

You quit using strawmen jackass

I’m not pretending crap

I think ten years served is enough for a coke dealer first offense she did over twice that

You can’t charge her for what cartels do.

She did twenty one plus years and was snitched on by more senior partners who got less time

No violence attributed to her in her PSI report.....not your hunch all dope dealers are violent

First offense

That’s enough effing time even for the thirstiest freeper scolds

You should learn to read. Go to post 10 to see what she did. She was the leader of a cartel that moved TONS of cocaine.

But if you need to praise President Trump for everything he does, even when he is completely wrong, then go ahead.

President Trump said big time drug dealers, like THIS ONE, should get the chair. Now he cuts her loose to please a Karkrashian. I have supported the President since the day he announced but he is completely wrong on this one.

A dear friend died from a cocaine induced heart attack in 2007. He made his choices but this is not a victimless crime.

You are the ones who needs to read

Are you that daft

I guess in your mind she ran the Memphis cartel..lol...never heard of that one....what she was was boss of some sellling spots in Memphis that got coke from Texas that got it from CeeBo

Their cocaine came from whatever Colombian cartel that moved tons

It went through Texas and everywhere else including whatever she and her Memphis office got

She was not the leader of the Cartel

Some Colombian A number of rungs up the ladder was

I realize that’s small nuance to you

Some schlub buys a gram on the street he’s Pablo Escobar after all there is a connection somewhere

Twenty one years is more than enough and Trump saw that to his credit

I think ten for non violent drug dealing is plenty.....that’s just my opinion

I think sentences were fair prior to 1987 when they went nutz because of crack btw

“non-violent drug crimes.”

The woman was involved in a conspiracy to deal millions of dollars of cocaine.

I’m old enough to remember the shock of Len Bias’ death.

Cocaine dealing is not a non-violent activity. If you deal large enough quantities, you are killing people. This woman is likely a killer.

That said, I understand that she committed her crimes in ways that allowed the self-deception that her activity was “non-violent,” almost not a crime. I also accept that she seems to have regretted her crime, and done her best to turn her life around.

No one deserves mercy, only justice. But it is an emulation of the Divine to offer mercy, especially to the broken-hearted. This was a fit case for the application of mercy. Kudos, President Trump.

But it wasn’t a “non-violent” crime.

You have no clue about how the drug world works. Candidate Trump said big time drug dealers, like this sweet non violent grandma, needed to fry. Instead, he turned them loose to suck up to the trash.
