But Cox didn’t vote for Trump even though Trump
endorsed him. I’d be a little surprised if Cox
requested any Trump help at this point. Newsom will be
campaigning against Cox and Trump. Cox will campaign
against Newsom and Brown but he will have to do the
the MSM’s job for them (big surprise) since Brown
and Newsom were never scrutinized. Hated gas tax...
homeless situation....unfunded mandates...train to
nowhere...water rationing....taxes....sanctuary cities
are all issues that MIGHT cause more problems for
Newsom than many outsiders may think.
National GOP campaign type heavy hitters and $$ needed
for Cox to have any kind of a shot at Gavin Newscum.
Slim hopes abound.
I don’t know.
Here is the section from his Wikipedia page, about “Donald Trump”:
Relationship with Donald Trump[edit]
While Cox previously did not support Donald Trump early in the gubernatorial campaign or in the 2016 presidential election, instead voting for Gary Johnson, he now says he supports Trump and says that voting for Johnson was “a mistake”.[27] Cox was endorsed by Trump on May 18, 2018[28] and he has been portrayed as Trump’s protégé in advertising from Gavin Newsom.[29]
Early in his gubernatorial Campaign, Cox attempted to distance himself from Donald Trump and his administration. When asked about Trump, he stated to Politico “...no comment. Was that fast enough for you?” [30] While Cox would later reveal he voted for Libertarian presidential Candidate Gary Johnson in 2016, he declined to state whether he had supported Trump during the 2016 election, commenting “I know my opponents will try to tie me to Mr. Trump. I am not Mr. Trump...Im analytical, Im policy-oriented. I read five newspapers a day. Im not a reality TV star thats going to insult people. Im going to try to rally people.”[31] Coxs support for the Libertarian ticket in 2016 and his ambivalence toward President Trump has drawn criticism of his views as aligning with the Never Trumper movement.[32]
President Donald Trump endorsed John Cox in May 19, 2018 via Twitter stating “California finally deserves a great Governor, one who understands borders, crime and lowering taxes”.[28] His daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, has also endorsed him.[33] On May 28, 2018, Trump tweeted a further endorsement of Cox as “...a really good and highly competent man”.[34]

Seems like the two of them, can work together.
Maybe. :D
No.
But Trump does have party coattails.
He endorsed Cox who not only won but managed to finish second and make it to November.
Its Trump’s party now.

I don’t know if I would advise RNC to send money to Cox...
Couldn’t money be spent in some other state more effectively?
I don’t want to sound too negative...However, I am skeptical that CA voters are willing to elect a Republican as Governor...
I saw some of Newsom’s victory speech...He critized Jeff Sessions for inhuman deportation policies...Newsom was upset that parents were separated from children...
