The fact is under a 9th Circuit consent decree and U.S. law, there are circumstances were children are separated from adults. Such as not being able to confirm family relation, or a threat to the children exists. AFAIK There has been no change in the law or polices for the treatment of illegal immigrants in custody, since 1997. For the last two years under Trump, they have been treated the same as under eight years of Obama.
Sen. Merkley is grandstanding for his reelection in 2020.

He’s a lying sack of crap, but the part I found most interesting is that they are, in fact, using empty Wal Mart buildings for this stuff. I’ve always been highly skeptical of the claims that this was happening.
