The industry body UK Steel said that, with exports to America worth half a billion dollars a year, producers in Britain would be hit hard.
Employees at the giant Port Talbot steelworks in Wales have described the move as another body blow.
Mark Turner, who works at Tata, the company that owns the Welsh steelworks, said there is a major worry that the UK steel market will become saturated if other countries subject to the charges end up dumping their steel into Britain, pushing prices down.
He added: Our biggest concern is dumping. The American markets are going to be closed to everybody, theres going to be steel thats going to be floating around and our markets in the UK are going to be at the heart of that dumping

This ties right in with my tagline, thanks to Caww
We are the ones who got raped for decades. Like I stated, if anyone who has traveled to Europe, you will hard pressed to find an American product in stores, except for the Iphone. Go to a convenience store, and it’s all Euro stuff which is natural, but on a US viewpoint, where are our products?
These weenies bitch about protectionism but the ass clowns in the Atlantic are the experts at it..
As Rush said today, these tariffs can go away with the stroke of a pen. Or not. Do they (other countries) want to talk about it?
Any day a weenie cries is a happy day for moi.
And it is not just the Brits. Look back to the San Fran bay bridge upgrade project. That was Chinese steel if my memory is not gone/wrong.
Until Trump, the US implemented a 2.5% tariff on European cars. Meanwhile, the EU put a 10% tariff on US cars. This went on for decades.
Screw the Europeans.
The extent to which China uses tariffs against us is not known to most people.
In our business, you cannot ship used equipment to China for use in a branch office or plant that you own. So, if I buy a machine, and I take it out of the crate, then decide its better if I send that ‘used’ but never installed machine to my Shanghai plant, I can’t.
If we build a piece of custom tooling for this machine, we CAN send it to China, BUT:
1. We can wait 45 days for it to clear customs (imposed on tooling)
2. Pay 40% of the total cost of the tooling to release it immediately.
In the US we have no such trade regulations. At all.
For decades we have been the dumping ground for the world’s government subsidized factories. Our steel industry could not compete with that. That was their plan..........................
I’m not sure if such a high tariff is justified on EU or Canadian metal at this time.
The only recent US complaints against metal dumping I’ve found have been against Chinese firms.
People in my office in leadership positions think Trump is the destroyer.
Ignorant. They aren’t stupid people, they’re just ignorant and set in their ideology.
That’s the one thing about RINOs I’m grateful for: I no longer identify as Republican, and I reject their platform (primarily because they don’t believe, nor promote it).
I’m a conservative, and a constitutionalist.
For your interest. :)
Funny...???(NOT)
The rest of the world ‘HATES’ us until we start watching what we spend and do things to help the American Manufacturer.
Of course the ‘hate’ will subside a tad for the next armed skirmish, natural disaster or something else that ‘requires’ something from us.
‘WE’ ask them to pay their ‘fair’ NATO share. While US troops stationed around the world boost the economy and allow the ‘host’ countries to depend on ‘US’ for their defense budget.
Remember when they formed the EU, they ‘bragged’ about how we would be replaced as the ‘Worlds foremost power etc’.
Take Rudyard Kiplings “TOMMY” and ‘replace’ Tommy Atkins with ‘USofA’.
Screw the Brits
They haven’t been able to be trusted since 1775
Because they are globalists that dont want MAGA
You could ask some Never Trumpers who lurk here why
Has Chinese metal been labeled as European/Canadian and then reshipped here?
TATA is a multi-national Indian company...based in Mumbai.
If European/Canadian steel is not shipped here, then I fail to understand why they're complaining about Trump putting a tariff on it.
Same here. Been saying it for more than a decade. When a leftard suffers, I get giddy.
