I know. It was a rhetorical question aimed at the open border/free trader crowd.

That’s okay. Every country needs to do what is in their best interest. So bring it.
Of course, if a small economy decides to play hardball with their larger trade partners, they might want to consider whether they have the resiliency to take the shot.

Canada, Mexico, and Europe want the threat of tariffs OFF the table, before they want to negotiate.
Which really means that they just want to slow roll the whole thing until Trump is gone.
OOPS...
Trump doesnt play the game the way they want.

There already is a trade war: other countries forbid imports from the US.
When they put a tariff on the US, it has a minimal effect on the US, as they dont import much from us anyway, and the given the relative sizes of the two economies.

We manufacture a consumer commodity product and stack it on pallets where it is then shipped to Canada, Where it is put into cases so they can claim "made in canada". The labor, machine process time, and raw materials are 35% cheaper here in the U.S.
Thirty thousand or so pallets a month. = 120,000 cases.

Um...what I meant to say, but didn't, was: Some of what they give us is stuff like Justin Beiber and Ryan Reynolds.
(I am told that my grandfather was from Canada, so perhaps I should have thought that post out a bit more!)

I’ve never seen rapeseed oil in a store. That’s the British equivalent to Canola.
