WASHINGTON The former acting F.B.I. director, Andrew G. McCabe, wrote a confidential memo last spring recounting a conversation that offered significant behind-the-scenes details on the firing of Mr. McCabes predecessor, James B. Comey, according to several people familiar with the discussion.
Mr. Comeys firing is a central focus of the special counsels investigation into whether President Trump tried to obstruct the investigation into his campaigns ties to Russia. Mr. McCabe has turned over his memo to the special counsel, Robert S. Mueller III.
In the document, whose contents have not been previously reported, Mr. McCabe described a conversation at the Justice Department with the deputy attorney general, Rod J. Rosenstein, in the chaotic days last May after Mr. Comeys abrupt firing. Mr. Rosenstein played a key role in the dismissal, writing a memo that rebuked Mr. Comey over his handling of an investigation into Hillary Clinton.
But in the meeting at the Justice Department, Mr. Rosenstein added a new detail: He said the president had originally asked him to reference Russia in his memo, the people familiar with the conversation said. Mr. Rosenstein did not elaborate on what Mr. Trump had wanted him to say.
To Mr. McCabe, that seemed like possible evidence that Mr. Comeys firing was actually related to the F.B.I.s investigation into the Trump campaigns ties to Russia, and that Mr. Rosenstein helped provide a cover story by writing about the Clinton investigation.

I guess it takes time to produce convincing evidence. (wink, wink)
It must be difficult to produce such documents when you never know what the next piece of evidence revealed will be.
One misstep and the documents you produced today could turn out to undermine the defense you were trying to manufacture.
If you tell the truth, you don't have to remember anything. - Mark Twain
I would say:
If you tell the truth, you don't have to keep producing documents.
The secret memo lack candor and who really cares what McCabe writes to himself.
‘Your honor. As proof of everything I said is true I offer these notes I wrote to myself.’
I’d say you are describing many government “workers”...at all levels of government .
They can quack all the lies they want until they’re standing under the DC cherry trees...
A, I dont believe a word of it, but B, if true, Rosenstein is a witness and must be recused from supervising the Mueller witch hunt.
***************************************************
Rosenstein is involved up to his smelly ass in this whole sordid effort. Recused? The meek and compliant (to his Deep State puppetmasters) Sessions long ago said he would TRUST ROSENSTEIN to determine for himself if he should recuse himself. In other words, Sessions will never lift a single finger against the DEEP STATERS in the DOJ and the FBI.
.
The backdrop is McCabe had taken a bunch of $$$ from the DEM Party and then worked to see Hillary was elected. He was questioned about Lying, and recused himself like four days before the Election, only so he could say he recused himself and all the dirty work was already done.
So, with that unsaid backdrop, is it a surprise that McCabe jotted some notes?
Rosenstein is a witness, and Mueller is holding off because that will become evident, but he wants Sessions and Rosenstein on the inside doing damage and blocking.
.
How did the NYT get a confidential document unless the FBI gave it to them.
Their current panic suggest to me that perhaps the IG report isn't just another Lucy Van Pelt/football letdown.
Comey found that so preposterous he talked Trump out of it.
Every since I read that, I've had this tiny suspicion that Trump actually wants this Mueller investigation to drag on ... for the same reason.
If your writing CYA memos, you better be writing them for every meeting. Otherwise you create a perception.
Lie, after lie, after lie from the NY Slimes.
Oh sure, just keep making stuff up (wasn’t this guy shit-canned for lying) and we’ll all believe it. Uh huh.

Acting FBI Director: No Effort to Impede Investigation Into Russian Meddling
So when did he write his Susan Rice CYA memo to himself?
just wait till the 11th there is going to be a shit storm of activities because of the fact that President Trump will have his people in place within the FBI and the justice department at that point start investigating and prosecuting the crimes committed during the Obama administration will start.
Just how would firing Comey obstruct anything at all? It doesn’t shut down the FBI, it doesn’t shut down any investigations they are doing and it doesn’t leave the FBI without any leadership.
It is an absolutely absurd premise.
Only in the case of Trump are efforts to establish one's innocence considered obstruction.
It's a desperate smokescreen because the underlying charge of collusion with the Russians has been revealed as a complete falsehood, planted by the political opposition and used as an instrument of government abuse.
That makes sense. Which Democrat will be the first to suggest it? I'm going to go waaay out on a limb and suggest Chuck Schumer. My reasoning is that it needs to be someone with a lot of clout and who can be instructed by the deep state to pull the plug on Mueller.
Won't happen for a while though, the deep state is too busy with book tours.
