Humboldt State University [California] is preparing to host a flurry of social justice workshops intended for “white folks” who seek to take part “in conversations about race more productively.”
Starting on June 12, students may attend part one of the “Microaggressions and Whiteness” workshop, which will offer “an introduction to the concept of whiteness, the significance of whiteness in our everyday lives, and how this shapes our interactions with each other.”
Part two of the workshop will take place on June 19, and is intended to provide “an introduction to the concept of microaggressions, how to identify them, and how to deal with microaggressions that occur during our interactions with each other.”
Alongside the two-part whiteness workshop, Humboldt invites white students to watch and discuss Ted Talks dealing with whiteness and privilege, including “How Can I Have a Positive Racial Identity? I'm White!” “Why Does Privilege Make People So Angry?” “How Studying Privilege Systems Can Strengthen Compassion,” and “What Beyonce Taught Me about Race.”
Additionally, the students will get a chance to read and discuss an article titled “White People: I Don't Want You to Understand Me Better, I Want You to Understand Yourselves.”
All five discussion sessions are part of a larger “Building Stamina: Cultivating a Positive White Racial Identity that Supports Positive Participation in Conversations about Race” workshop that is intended specifically for “white folks,” according to the online description of the event.
“This is an opportunity for white people to self-reflect, ask questions, and enter in conversation with each other in an effort to better understand whiteness and privilege as well as interpersonal and systemic structures that facilitate opportunity for some and limit opportunity for others,” the description explains.
“No previous experience talking about race or whiteness is necessary,” it clarifies, saying the only prerequisite is “a willingness to listen, learn, and have what you know questioned.”
Also on June 12, the university will be hosting a seminar titled “Strategies for Defusing Defensiveness,” which will “support folks to identify what our own defensiveness around privilege may look and feel like.”
According to the school, attendees of this session “will have the opportunity to engage with mindful and grounding practices as specific tools to support us in moving forward and mindfully acting from our values, as well as discuss ways to address potential harms that may have occurred.”
Campus Reform reached out to Humboldt State for comment, but did not receive a response in time for publication.

Just when you thiMk it can’t get any more crazy-it gets more crazy. The only ones with enough time on their hands to thiMk of this crap are the CRAZY PROGGS. The rest of us are too busy supporting them.
Humboldt is home to generations of marijuana growers. Free samples will be handed out at the door. This will help uptight whites to understand and emphasize.

In the above example -of Farrakhan calling for Blacks to kill Whites - would this be a microaggression or a ‘dog whistle’?
And boy, does the “chase” part ever chap my rear end. Whites are accused of “oppressing” the poor poc, but when we move away from we’re allegedly oppressing, it’s “white flight”, and those we moved away from, whom we were “oppressing”, can’t follow fast enough. They know who makes society liveable.
The only ‘privilege’ I have been exposed to is black privilege.
They commit crimes, don’t get arrested, loot, attack police, nothing happens.
They get preferential treatment and grades (graduate from college with middle school writing skills) and job access (affirmative action hiring)
The sad thing is that the above actually hurts them, especially black kids at school, by lowering the bar for them they can’t reach the same achievements as the rest of the population.
It all looks like and smells like racism to me.
The Department of Housing and Urban Development spends millions of dollars making the Chase part happen.
Great. Now I can finally receive the “white privilege” I’ve been hearing so much about.
Which class do I take my white self to describe the privilege of scooping ice cream and humping 400 lb barrels of motor oil to work my way through school?
Who do these idiots think settled this country, especially those who moved west in a covered wagon? I lived in both Nebraska and Kansas. I saw very few blacks in either state. The further west I went into Ogallala, NE then to Rock Springs, WY and down to Flaming Gorge, Utah I saw none I recall. Into Idaho and north I went back into Wyoming and to Cody. I do not recall blacks out west except for some in Salt Lake City. Guess I am crazy.
White privilege = Protestant work ethic. Delayed gratification, education, investing for future, etc.
Works for minorities, too.
And when in a private business, policy’s and laws against loitering, trespassing, and disorderly condct only apply to non blacks.
That is a special privilege in my book.
Yes, that is true, at least for working and middle class whites. The white elites shut themselves up in quasi-apartheid seclusion.
Next stop, re-education camps.

I wonder how many black students there are at Humboldt State. I won’t count the ones on athletic scholarships.
