President Trump's first public reaction to the cancellation of "Roseanne" is a shot at Disney CEO Bob Iger. What he didn't say is just as notable. He didn't say anything critical of Roseanne Barr's racist and conspiratorial tweets -- the comments that got her fired on Tuesday.
Instead, he tweeted this on Wednesday: "Bob Iger of ABC called Valerie Jarrett to let her know that 'ABC does not tolerate comments like those' made by Roseanne Barr. Gee, he never called President Donald J. Trump to apologize for the HORRIBLE statements made and said about me on ABC. Maybe I just didn't get the call?"
Trump and Barr have been supporters of each other for years. Trump called her up when "Roseanne" drew record ratings for its premiere in March. So that's why there was speculation that he might weigh in on the show's demise.
Rather than distancing himself from Barr's racist remarks, Trump jumped right into the argument about whether she was subjected to a double standard.
Here's the context: Jarrett was one of the targets of Barr's Twitter tirade early Tuesday morning.
Barr compared Jarrett to "Planet of the Apes" and the Muslim Brotherhood, then claimed she was just joking. The tweet was widely condemned as racist.
Jarrett, one of the most prominent African American women in politics, was one of President Obama's top aides. That's partly why Barr attacked her. Barr frequently uses her Twitter account to deride Democrats.
When her attack caught fire on Twitter, Iger and his deputies moved quickly to cancel the show.
It is true that Iger called Jarrett and told her about the decision to cancel "Roseanne" shortly before it was announced on Tuesday.

Wow.
“Ahhh, but did anyone as well known as Roseanne tweet this?”
Well gosh...you got me there. I guess only celebrities can be racists, huh?
Every reason Whoopi should have lost her job under the Hollywood idea of rules you can’t break.
We have to continuously be reminded of our white guilt and we should never say anything bad about our neighbors of African heritage, even if they are true and accurate. We cannot hurt their precious little feelings because they were slaves 150 years ago and we cannot understand their experience. Anyone that disobeys this rule must be severely punished. On the other hand they are free to say and do whatever they please without repercussion.
Marxism believes in the collective and the individual is subservient to the collective. Marxism is derived from ancient belief systems of Tribalism. At the dawn of man, humans lived in tribes, working together for survival in a harsh environment. Individualism did not work well for the group think. Cooperation of the collective was needed for the harsh threats of the environment. Man has since moved ahead from his closed society to the pinnacles of achievement. The concept of private-property and Capitalism came about from the rise of agriculture and distribution. Technology and science came about because of individualism. It is the return to Tribalism that is the driving force of the Marxist Left. It uses bullying tactics and that is its dead giveaway. The Left denies Natural Rights which are the sovereignty of the individual. It is the use of Identity Politics that seeks to splinter humans in collective groups. Cultural Marxism is its basis. It seeks to take man back to his ancient past where a ruling elite exists by suppressing the individual under the yoke of the collective tribe. Valerie Varrett is of the Muslim Tribe with its barbaric practices which are primitive like tribal apes.
I imagine he would say: NOT ON YOUR LIFE!
Try it forever....you will experience freedom from the ignorant mob.
Wrong. Im sick of everyone looking for race Im all things.
Then exactly what did she mean?
Then exactly what did she mean?
Last week I was watching a you tube where a popular black rapper got a white girl on stage to sing his rap song with him. It had the n word in it multiple times. She sang/rapped (whatever) the music exactly like him, but he stopped the performance and called her out on using the n word. She was booed off the stage.
We really need to stop letting them redefine the meaning of words, or having words that one entire race can’t use. This isn’t about race, it’s about control.
Racism is the belief in the superiority of one race over another, which often results in discrimination and prejudice towards people based on their race or ethnicity.
Nothing more, nothing less. Explain to me how Roseanne Barr insinuated that white is superior to black.
Please dont change the subject not by answering a question with a question. This was a racist thing to say. You understand what everyone means when they are referring to it being racist. If it was meant otherwise, then my question is again for the 3rd time - what did she mean?
Youre shameful
#48. Is this the direction that FR should go?
A joke is a joke. Go on YouTube or Amazon Prime and look at the old Dean Martin Roasts, especially the one on Sammy Davis, Jr.
In today’s world all those old comedians and such would be labeled Racists and Bigots, but they weren’t. But they would be shunned and run out of the entertainment business on a rail by the PC crowd.
Now if Rosanne can be punished like this how can ESPN, for example, hire back Keith Olbermann as host of Sports Center. I have seen some of his past Tweets, yet he gets a pass along with the other Liberal idiots on that network?
There is a huge double standard and we all know it.

Corrupt Newsless Network.

What is racism anyway? Is it racist to prefer your own race when choosing a spouse? Is it racist to be proud of your race and to be glad you were born the race you are?
What about other distinctions like gender, age, height, eye color, hair type, education, IQ, physical fitness, wealth?
What about loving and caring for those in our family way more than those who are not? Isn’t that the ultimate discrimination? What about teaching our children not to talk to strangers? What about locking our doors? All of these behaviors seem to have evolved to keep us safe.
I think it should all be fair game if we are to be free. If we place restrictions on criticizing or making fun of someone different than us, we are also restricting our right to have preferences, choices.
Someone explain to me why I shouldn’t notice skin color along with every other piece of information I have available to me, and form generalizations based on my experiences, observations and what I’ve been taught in order to try to predict and avoid negative outcomes.
Certainly, people should remain open to the possibility that their generalizations (prejudices) may be wrong and hurtful to others. But asking people not to do a full risk assessment, not to trust the familiar over the unfamiliar, not to avoid the unknowns, not to be alert for something that appears out of place, not to be suspicious - because it might hurt someone’s feelings - that’s like asking people not to survive.
I think a lot of things get called “racist”, a pejorative but vague term, in order to keep winners from winning so much. But I think it’s good for everyone when winners win. Competition produces innovation and prosperity - “a rising tide raises all ships”
If you believe in free enterprise, then you should embrace winning and choosing and all sorts of preferences, including race.
