President Donald Trump said Wednesday he regretted choosing Jeff Sessions as attorney general, a continuation of the President's frustrations over Sessions' decision to recuse himself from the Russia investigation.
Quoting Rep. Trey Gowdy, R-South Carolina, who noted on CBS earlier Wednesday that Trump "could have picked somebody else" for the position, Trump tweeted, "I wish I did!"
Donald J. Trump ✔ @realDonaldTrump ....There are lots of really good lawyers in the country, he could have picked somebody else! And I wish I did! 8:47 AM - May 30, 2018

Sessions told a whopper—a shameless one:
Senate passes immigration bill
By SEUNG MIN KIM 06/27/2013 04:25 PM EDT Updated 06/28/2013 12:19 AM EDT
The Senate on Thursday passed the most monumental overhaul of U.S. immigration laws in a generation, which would clear the way for millions of undocumented residents to have a chance at citizenship, attract workers from all over the world and devote unprecedented resources for security along the U.S.-Mexico border.
The vote was 68-32. Fourteen Republicans crossed the aisle to vote with all Democrats in favor. Thursdays vote now puts the onus of immigration reform on the Republican-led House, where leaders have been resistant to the Senate legislation.

I’m starting to get confused by all the players in this theater for the ugly but it seems to me that a lack of perp walks means someone is not doing their job.
Session said " It gave amnesty first... We voted more than once to build a fence, do we have a fence?"
NO hair splitting... the whopper I was actually pointing out, that was ignored, was the *accusation*, that Attorney General Sessions was 'suppose to be campaigning for candidate Trump, when he made these remarks... Slither on dear.
There aren’t even witnesses who’ve said they’ve testified to grand juries about Dem corruption. Such witnesses would be evidence of serious investigation.
Did the 'passed' immigration bill give 'amnesty first?
You’ve got one day left on your prediction =>

I have no idea where you were during the GOP presidential primary. I spent a good part of my online time right here, posting on FR. Sessions had joined the Trump campaign and was ***supposed*** to be helping him. Meanwhile the Cruz campaign was slumping and not gaining traction.
At just that crucial juncture Sessions opened his big mouth and made the 100% false claim that Cruz had stopped amnesty. It was the shot in the arm the Cruz campaign needed. It picked up steam and became competitive overnight.
Now you can sit there and say it didn’t happen. But that would be a LIE. I and a bunch of other Trump supporters attempted to explain how incorrect Sessions’ claim was. The Cruz supporters came at us rabidly. They kept demanding, over and over, “Are you calling Sessions a liar??? ARE YOU???” They said a lot worse than that, too.
You cannot tell me that my personal experiences didn’t happen. I know what I saw and what I went through. Sessions straight up lied for Cruz’ benefit when he was *supposed* to be helping Trump. He was a two-faced backstabber even then.
Your post is incomprehensible.
“DJT’s disparaging of Sessions is a tactic to put the left on Sessions’ side to blindside them at the end and leave them supporting their worst enemy with no excuses.”
Well put. I think it also serves to appease some of his most ardent supporters who are out for blood - and need someone to blame for the fact that no Democrats are going to jail and not enough deep staters are getting fired. Sessions is the designated scapegoat.
I believe Trump and Sessions have long ago reached the conclusions that the Mueller witch hunt must be allowed to run its course, and that the Trump administration (including the DOJ) must play no part in meting out punishment for the political crimes of past Democrat administrations and Democrat election campaigns, in order to avoid the appearance of political retribution.
This passivity has been a huge disappointment for many of Trump’s core supporters, and in order to appease them, Trump has had to let the blame fall on his AG, Jeff Sessions.
Sessions probably offered to be the fall guy - that’s what I think of Jeff Sessions’ loyalty to Donald Trump.
I’m not sure even Chubby Checker could twist that much.
It’s an alternate reality. It’s impossible to reason with those who subscribe to it since theories and wishful thinking trump facts and logic.
Maybe, for those who can’t imagine anything past the first surface. Trump doesn’t play that way. That’s why he got elected and why Korea and Iran are getting tamed. Allayall seem to think Trump is a dummie but you didn’t think that when you voted for him. Do you think he suddenly went senile?
The leaps of logic in your post defy quantification.
And therein lies the problem.
I just gave you the links that demonstrated that Sessions speak out on Cruz came before Sessions joined the Trump campaign... What Sessions praised Cruz on was stopping 'amnesty first'..
I have no comment on your personal experiences.
If Sessions made a pro-Cruz statement prior to joining the Trump campaign, I can assure you he made another subsequent to joining it. As I took the time to recount above, I lived through it. It was a horrible experience. The Cruz people latched onto Sessions’ comments and used them as cudgels, beating anyone who questioned them verbally black, blue and bloody. Their uncontrolled aggression did Cruz no favors—but Sessions’ lie gave Cruz an immeasurable boost.
“...but never an explanation as to why they would have to conduct this charade.”
I think of it less as a charade and more of a self preservation instinct. For example, let’s say you’re being held down and being beat up by a gang of thugs. For their grand finale one guy kicks you in the nuts, but you’re wearing a cup - does it make sense to say “that didn’t hurt”? No, then they’ll find some better way to hurt you. It’s best to feign agony - maybe they’ll feel like they did enough and be done with you.
Similarly, even if Trump knows the Mueller witch hunt can’t touch him, it’s best to let the impeach-Trump types believe they are inflicting damage - act wounded and afraid. Trump’s enemies have a lot of power and the minute they realize Mueller is not landing any blows, they’ll be looking for another way to hurt him, maybe more successfully.
“WHY cant Jeff Sessions simply carry out his sworn duties without playing some game with public perception?”
Again, I wouldn’t call it a game - public perception is (and should be) the ultimate driver in politics in a self governing nation. The will of the people is important, and when the Left controls the airwaves and the people hear nothing but lies, Trump can’t take it for granted that just because he’s doing the right thing in the name of justice, that the public will perceive it that way. He has to mete out justice but also make sure it is perceived as justice, and not political retribution..
I think the last thing Trump wants is the appearance of a vengeful hatchet man AG, slaying Democrats on his behalf. If they can, the MSM will try to make it look like Trump is the witch hunter - out for political retribution against innocent Democrats. Why do their work for them by openly weaponizing his DOJ and AG? Democrat presidents can get away with that because the MSM is ahways out to make them look good. Republican presidents can’t afford even the appearance of vengeful retribution. Better to be accused of having a weak and passive DOJ and AG, and make it look like there’s nothing you can do about it.
What do you mean IF ... I gave you the link that Sessions did in fact, in December 2015 praise Ted Cruz. I further gave you a link that gave the date that Sessions joined the Trump campaign. February 2016. F A C T S!!!!
Cite the article or any valid reporting that Sessions was praising Cruz after he joined the Trump campaign. Your memory does not count as valid reporting.
Where did all those rank and file FBI, Whistle-blowers go?
Here is my assessment: Sessions’ supporters are as dishonest as he is.
I took an outsized amount of time to relay exactly what I and other Trump supporters endured thanks to Sessions’ lie. The graceless way you sweep it all aside is a mirror of the shoddy way Sessions has treated the trust Trump invested in him. It’s disgusting.
I already advised you not to tell me what I did and didn’t experience. But you can’t help yourself—any more than Sessions can stop himself from drooling praise all over the Deep State pro-Hillary/anti-Trumper swamp snake in the grass, Rosenstein.
I have no recollection of that controversy. All I remember was Sessions very early endorsement of President Trump sinking the Cruz campaign.
