Noblesville Mayor John Ditslear considers himself “a Second Amendment guy, but I also know and respect guns, and if you’ve got young children in the house…any and all guns should be locked up and not accessible to kids, period.”
That warning was on the mayor’s mind this past Saturday, 24 hours after the Noblesville West Middle School shooting, when he realized Hoosier Armory was having its grand opening at 10th and Logan streets just a block off the city’s downtown square, complete with a tent to encourage registration and membership in the NRA.

“Police tell us a male student is the suspected shooter, and he was detained at the school. He is reportedly in the seventh grade. Any information on charges is expected to be announced after the holiday weekend.
“A male student asked to be excused from his class. He left the classroom, he then returned armed with two handguns and that classroom is where the activities occurred,” said Noblesville Police Department Chief Kevin Jowitt. “We are still conducting interviews to determine what happened in that classroom. We do know the situation resolved extremely quickly with the result of the teacher and one student were injured and the suspect was placed into custody.”
Police also said they have a number of search warrants issued as part of the investigation.”
Guns and the NRA are not the problem, it's parents, schools and authorities that have made boys into shadow girls, made guns into something other than a tool and refuse to discipline or properly treat mental aberrations when they are identified.
Not only are children not allowed to engage in age old role playing games with guns, they are vilified and punished, even if heavens to God they draw a picture of a gun.
Once upon a time when boys were allowed to be boys, when guns and their proper use was taught and not vilified, we didn't have school shootings like this because the boys were allowed to settle their differences in short fights that rarely resulted in serious injury. So don't blame the NRA and guns, put the blame where it truly belongs, the Dr. Spock lunatic, flower child, pussified liberals that have screwed up our kids until this inevitable result has been achieved.
Or like blaming Coors or Seagrams. (But some alleged 'conservatives' will do just that regarding drugs other than alcohol.)
You’re talking about the North Hollywood shootout. The officers went to the gun store to get hunting rifles (.308, .30-30, .30-06) because the bad guys were wearing soft body armor that could defeat pistol calibers. But in the end, one guy shot himself in the head and the other guy was taken out by SWAT (who were training at the police academy and wearing shorts with body armor) using a 12 gauge shotgun on the unprotected ankles. After that event, many police departments added the AR15 to their arsenal.
...Never mind that it was a seventh grader with 2 pistols. a SEVENTH GRADER...
When I was in middle and high school we had guns or access to them. No school shootings then. Not much until David Hogs generation came along.
