There are forces within the US foreign policy establishment, now currently working for the President (many in disgust but in fear of their jobs), who still nevertheless return to their default position of "a failed agreement is better than no agreement at all". This is the life and breath of so many establishment foreign policy negotiators, the Foggy Bottom swamp. Their "deliverable" this time is not denuclearization, but rather a high-optics, low substance meeting of Trump and Kim, and some kind of agreement no matter how flawed nor unenforceable. What departure would that be from previous administrations and previous failures.

The ball will be in the President's court, in his final decision, to accept a crappy deal that is crafted by these Sherpas, or with his better instincts which he promised us on the campaign trail and which he has been true to in hiring no-nonsense professionals such as John Bolton who have been through this drill too many times to be fooled by the Norkies--and THEY know it! ;-)

What can I say....the most thus far we can hope for is at least Kims not shooting off rockets for the moment.....and we’ve even been down that road!

Personally there are times it’s easy to think we should just get done what few want to do about Kim and the North rather than watch these same gymnastics.
