I've become convinced that most people simply do not have any concept of how serious political wars can truly become. Our country has been stable for so long that there exists no remaining memory of any actual conflict.

Perhaps there should be a quick refresher course of world events, perhaps covering just the last 50 years, of what happens during various civil wars, revolutions and coups. If one becomes familiar with the natural flow of these occurrences, the only possible fallback position that affords denial is they are "other countries". However, if you abandon that position, and both understand and accept what could happen in the US, then the constant naysaying about eventual punishment becomes quite hallow.

I think, first and foremost, the general public has to get their head around the fact that there was an attempted coup d'etat. That means an act of war, which means conspirators were engaged in treason. The only possible defense that it wasn't treason is that it wasn't an attempted coup, so it wasn't an act of war. Feel free to defend that position; it merely reduces the charges to sedition.

If Trump decides that the best political course of action for him to achieve his MAGA objectives is to fully pursue charges of treason, then this includes of course the media organizers & conspirators. If victory is entirely assured, then there is no reason whatsoever failing to fully prosecute treason and the penalties that ensue.

History is replete - overflowing - with the aftermath of civil wars. Hundreds, thousands, 10s of thousands of traitors are executed. Political systems are altered, the course of society is changed, often times for decades if not centuries. History unfolds due to critical events in time, infrequent in nature, but with tremendous force & impact.

How this plays out is all in Trump's hand. He is completely within his lawful rights to utterly destroy the left. A lot of this shadowboxing is being performed to test just how much political force of will he possesses.

Very well written.

Americans are far too complacent and ignorant of the potential for chaos we face. “It can’t happen here”. No country is immune.

The most significant history that has been buried is that the USA came under a Soviet cabal during the FDR administration.

This included “Co-president” and Svengali, Harry Hopkins, as well as Harry Dexter White, Alger Hiss and possibly hundreds of others, especially if including media.

The FDR administration totally subordinated United States interests to those of the Stalin—giving away half of Europe, all of China and the A-Bomb.

Up to 20,000 American servicemen were abandoned to the Soviet slave labor camps in Siberia (Gulags) after the war.
