Despite History of Silencing Conservatives, Joy Reid Suggests NFL Kneel Rule Violates 1st Amendment

If there is one person on TV who should have the good grace not to raise the issue of the right of a private-sector entity to control speech within its domain, it’s Joy Reid.

As the host of an MSNBC show, Reid has a notorious history of shutting down, correcting, reprimanding and even defenestrating conservatives who say things she doesn’t like. For example, when a Republican referred to the “Democrat party,” Reid reprimanded him:“on this show, we say Democratic,” warning him that “we’re going to have to sit down. We’re going to have a talking-to.” Reid similarly shut down another conservative who had the audacity to speak of “illegals.” Other examples of Reid stifling conservative speech abound, as here, here and here.

So it would be the height of hypocrisy for Reid to suggest that the NFL might be running afoul of the First Amendment with its new rule that could result in fines for teams whose players kneel during the Anthem. But that didn’t deter Reid this morning, who said:

“The First Amendment argument is complicated because it’s not the government that’s preventing speech, it’s these private organizations, which also happen to get a lot of money from the Department of Defense.”

She has no clue. Just another angry, bigoted left wing Affirmative Action Jackson

She couldn’t get a real job in the real world, especially one that calls for “thinking”

It’s a job - that’s what Joy doesn’t get. Players can do what ever they want ON THEIR OWN TIME but not ‘on the clock’. It’s the same for everyone.

A lawyer working in a firm - a cashier at McDonalds... anyone spending the first few minutes with a client or customer explaining THEIR political views would be risking their job. It’s NOT first Amendment stuff it’s WORKPLACE RULES...

Joy is irrational... queen of the pity party...

MSNBC is the best argument in favor of a la carte cable programing.

Excerpt from another FR article on this topic by Cal Thomas in which he says, IMHO, it's high past time for the NFL to start treating football players for what they are: EMPLOYEES.

Ping to the reply by Rey in number 3 above.

So my company can’t fire me for creating a PR nightmare while I’m working on the clock? Yeah, good luck with that. Even if the union stops the NFL from punishing everybody, the public is their boss. WE make the call and right now, we’re running them into bankruptcy, they just don’t know it yet.

When at work, there are some things the employer can insist on...what’s a violation of the 1st Amendment is how when some Conservatives get harassed/canned for opining on their facebook or twitter account because they ‘offend” the Left....

Trump swayed NFL owners on anthem rules, Kaepernick case depositions reveal!

The Wall Street Journal obtained depositions from NFL owners, including Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, as part of a grievance case filed by former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick.

According to Jones’ deposition, reviewed by the Journal, the president personally told him, “You can’t win this one.”

“This is a very winning, strong issue for me,” Trump reportedly said in a call with Jones. “Tell everybody, you can’t win this one. This one lifts me.”

The feud between the White House and the NFL began in September 2017, when during a rally, the president suggested that if a player knelt or refused to stand for the anthem, the owner should “get that son of a b—— off the field.”

Miami Dolphins owner Stephen Ross reportedly said in his deposition that he thought Trump “changed the dialogue.”

“I was totally supportive of [the players] until Trump made his statement,” Ross reportedly said.

Owner of the Houston Texans Bob McNair said he thought the president’s comments were inappropriate.

But McNair, Ross and Jones all reportedly acknowledged that the protests were financially hurting their teams.

Excerpted, go to the link below for full story on how we and President Trump kicked their $orry A$$es.

Any Freeper, who posts that our protests were not impacting the NFL owners, needs to have their brains MRIed to check on their brain injuries or they were/are paid NFL Trolls.
