Gilead Sciences, Inc. announced that the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved once-daily oral emtricitabine 200 mg/tenofovir disoproxil fumarate 300 mg (Truvada) in combination with safe sex practices, to reduce the risk of sexually acquired HIV-1 in at-risk adolescents.

Yes. If the effective level isn't maintained in one's system through lack of near perfect adherence, it gives HIV an opening to infect, and become resistant, just as those already infected.
Note they don’t use the ‘if it saces one’s child’s life...’line.

Making something illegal is always a horribly expensive proposition.

Getting FDA approval on a drug is not cheap! That’s why they tell us drugs are so expensive to develop, right? Then how in hell is there enough of a market for this drug to fund its development?

Anti-sodomy laws cost the ink and paper they are written on. Effectively, they are society's express censure of an immoral and publicly unhealthy practice. Almost NO cases are pursued and prosecuted because such practices usually are, and should be, committed in private, outside of public or law enforcement view.
Most importantly, anti-sodomy laws are a bulwark against all of the other totalitarian homosexual demands.
There is no reason children should have HIV. None, other than libs and pervs knowingly and intentionally infect them.

Not surprising, since high risk behavior is a standard character trait among them, why would risk-averse drug regimens be likely followed?
Soon, sodomites will declare that parents have no right to deny prescriptions for PrEP drugs to their "at risk" children, and compliant leftist judges will override parental authority to do so. Parents who persist will be deemed "harmful," with threats to remove such children from their homes. Don't think this won't happen. The foundation is being laid.

Truvada is not approved for the treatment of chronic hepatitis B virus infection (HBV). In people with both HIV and HBV who are treated with Truvada, stopping Truvada may cause their HBV to flare up (get worse). Before starting Truvada, talk to your health care provider about getting tested for HBV.
Do not take Truvada to reduce the risk of getting HIV—also called pre-exposure prophylaxis or PrEP—unless you are confirmed to be HIV negative.
