The headquarters of Taco Bell and Del Taco are about five miles from each other.
Their execs are either incredibly stupid, or there are shenanigans going on with the state govt. There seems little possibility left.
I never liked Chipotle, so this move doesn’t concern me, though I think it’s stupid.
Wrong picture. That would be Chitpottle.
I also moved from Colorado to California recently. Cost of living is around 10-15% higher.
However, where you work is where the boss wants to live.
Mexican grill moving HQ to mexifornia
. makes sense.
Of course no rational Hispanic of any latin ethnicity would call chipotles fare
. Mexican food without gagging.
Death wish? Not if CA bribed Chipotle with taxpayer money in the form of incentives, tax relief....
One more reason not to eat there.
Newport Beach is a wonderful place to live if you’re at the CEO level. For worker bees, not so much. And moving a company costs a ton of money. I wonder why the BOD is permitting this.
What did Hickenlooper know and when did he know it...

I wouldn’t eat at that ptomaine palace if you held a gun to my mother’s head.
Does your cost of living figure include Jerry Brown's new gas and vehicle registration taxes, not to mention the new taxes that'll be needed for meeting unfunded mandates like employee retirement funds?
The Chipotle guy's nuts. Businesses in CA are simply tax targets for the ex-flower children who run the state government.
Chipotle just leased 152,000 square feet (five floors) of space in a Denver high rise for 15 years.
CA paying for them to get put of that...?
The new CEO must have a sailboat in Newport Beach............
Thanks for reminding me never to buy their crap again.
Most of the real work will be done in Columbus, Ohio - Accounting, payroll, etc. while the CEO looks out at the Ocean...
“Chipotle Announces Denver HQ to Relocate to California”
No real difference. Pukes probably from CA and are homesick.
Has to be something like that. I read the headline and thought WTH?
A couple of years ago when Chipotle was all the rage, I finally went to one when taking my wife to a hospital appointment.
Food was OK and the crowd was just starting to pile up right before noon lunch rush. We ate in the restaurant and they have the most uncomfortable chairs to sit in.
Overall, I was not impressed and neither was my wife. We haven’t eaten there since. I will say the food and service wasn’t bad, but there are many other choices out there.
“Maybe the CEO has a beach house and a yacht in Newport Beach. That is the only reason that I can think of.
“
Probably his wife wants to move.
