President Trumps attorney Rudy Giuliani said Wednesday that he believes that Trump should interview with special counsel Robert Mueller, in a reversal of his previous statements on the topic.
I guess Id rather do the interview. It gets it over with it, it makes my client happy, Giuliani told The Washington Post. The safe course you hear every lawyer say is dont do the interview, and thats easy to say in the abstract. Thats much harder when you have a client who is the president of the United States and wants to be interviewed.
Giuliani has cast doubt on Trump interviewing with Mueller in the past. He told the Wall Street Journal in an interview published Tuesday that if he were to make a decision on the interview in that moment, he would decide against it.
The former New York City mayor told The Post in the new interview that Trump has vacillated over whether or not he wants to interview with Mueller in the probe.
There have been a few days where he says, maybe you guys are right, Giuliani said, referring to members of Trumps legal team who have warned him against talking with Mueller.
Then he goes right back to, why shouldnt I? he added.
He also said that he was concerned that a Trump interview with Mueller could be set up to catch the president on a possible perjury charge because truth is relative.
They may have a different version of the truth than we do, Giuliani said.

Giuliani should shut his idiot yap. Mueller needs firing.
No argument, but you did leave out ‘never’ & ‘ever’.
LOL
Rudy dropping flares and chaff?
Rudy sounds to me like he thinks the matter is up for consideration based on his client’s whims. He shouldn’t be this ambivalent.
Guiliani doesn’t really make me trust him.
Maybe it’s time for him to go back to retirement.
Say what?
No. No. And no.
I’ve been saying since Day One - Rudy is a huge mistake. Rudy is out for Rudy. He’s a snake.
This idea of Mueller as an executive branch employee using the President’s own constitutional power against him, threatening to subpoena him in a federal criminal investigation, seems contrary to our constitutional scheme.
It’s actually quite different than Clinton’s situation, in which he gave a deposition in a civil suit in which Paula Jones had sued him for damages in the courts, a separate branch of government.
If Trump and Giuliani are seriously considering doing this, they first need Mueller to state what questions he wants the President to answer and explain as to each question why it is necessary to obtain the President’s testimony on these points.
In fact, I think we would find that Mueller is taking a very expansive view of what constitutes obstruction of justice in firing an FBI director. If so, then they should first litigate this issue and see if the courts agree with Mueller’s new idea of what the law should be, before any testimony by the President.
In any event, if Trump and Giuliani agree to this, the question and answer session needs to be broadcast live.
NO HE SHOULD’NT !!
Relax - theyre trolling Mueller
So he doesn’t want Trump to get the Clinton interview terms(breaks) anymore?
I would say that is 100% true. And they aren't looking for answers. They are looking for mistakes.
Giuliani better do his DAMNED job as a lawyer and discourage Trump at all costs from being interviewed. There is no good that can come from it.
Trump is a smart guy, no doubt he thinks he can talk his way around anything, and I am sure he can. But they are just trying to trap him. This is a standard ploy used by prosecutors. Get someone who thinks he is smart to talk, and nail him on something small.
It's a TARP!
I don’t like it!
They’re rolling out the TARP!
And HELL NO!
Rudy took this on probably as a friend of Trump and a service to the country. I admire him for that. But he better dissuade Trump from interviewing.
One of the goals of the Left (and The Swamp) is to scare away anyone from collaborating with, working with, or working for Trump.
They want to isolate him, and ensure quality people will shy away after they watch how the left illegally rapes and abuses them. Look what they did to Cohen.
More “the art of the deal” playing out in front of us, and many taking the bait.
That would be game, set, match.
You may be right. I sure hope so.
