I used to see them when we’d go to church with my grandparents near Abilene. Also saw them in Maine. They are magical. :)
They certainly are magical. If it wasn’t for those darn coy dogs, I’d go into the woods to watch them wake up for the night. THAT’S really a sight! They come up from the ground and off the trees and the whole place is lit up with flickering lights. I saw it one time several years ago and never forgot it.
It’s a shame they can’t live in your area where it’s so dry.
