A total of 29.3 million Americans (9.1%) were uninsured in 2017 -- not a big change from 2016, but down by 19.3 million from 2010, the year the Affordable Care Act (ACA) became law, a government survey found.
Among ethnic groups, Hispanic adults made up the large percentage of the uninsured, at 27.2%, followed by black at 14.1%, non-Hispanic whites at 8.5%, and Asians at 7.6%. All four of these groups had significant drops in their uninsured populations from 2013 through 2017, the survey found.
Of those adults under age 65 with private health insurance, 3.7% were covered by plans bought through the ACA health insurance exchanges, down from 4.3% who had exchange plans in 2016, the survey found; however, that decrease was not statistically significant.

25.8 million is about 8% of the population. So in addition to 9.1% of the Population being uninsured,
8% of the Population gained Medical insurance through Medicaid. Without the increase in Medicaid 17% of the Population might have been uninsured in 2017. Meanwhile the ACA subsidy share declined from 4.3 to 3.7, a 14% decline. This decline in ACA is said to be insignificant.
This decline exists because working poor are now bringing home more money and getting better jobs with better insurance provided by the employer. That is insignificant.
Hispanics have the highest rate of uninsured, double the next highest rate, which is for Blacks. Yet Hispanics have the lowest rate of infant and maternal mortality. They are the only group still having babies...healthy babies. And they have the best longevity rate at the other end. So how can a high uninsured rate be blamed for health problems? Something does not compute. How can expanding Medicaid to more Hispanics possibly improve their health when those on Medicaid have the worst Health statistics?

Obamacare was a failure.
Didn’t lick health care uninsureds.
Just made health insurance expensive for every one else.
It didn’t do what the Democrats promised it would do.
so, after how many billions of dollars there is no real change in uninsured?
It never was about providing healthcare. It was about getting this on the guvment books knowing itd never be fully repealed. It was about giving the dims a wedge issue over the mean olgop. The dims care about you and the gop doesnt. Plain and simple.
Democrats were contumacious, arrogant and blind.
They refused to see that government meddling in one-eight of our economy would hurt more people than it would help.
They lost the House and later the Senate because people didn’t like where they were going.
Medicare For All Is Dead because its too expensive.
People love free but balk at the price tag.
I want to pimp-slap Obama.
Same here. My deductible went from15 to 60 this year. All because of Ovomitcare.
That POS cant die soon enough for me.
Before ObamaCare screwed everything up:
Blue Cross policy was $112/month with a $250 deductible.
After:
$1078/month and a $5,100 deductible.
How is that an “Affordable Health Care Act”?
That’s why I’m on Medicaid.
Only a fool would sign up for Obamacare private health insurance.
You can’t do that in states that didn’t expand MCaid, because there’s an asset limit - in MO, you literally can’t have over $1000 in assets.
The figures from the poster above are very similar to what I pay.
“The figures from the poster above are very similar to what I pay.”
Yep.
And in my town, I bet there are more Escalades driven by Mexicans than any other ethnic group. (I mean, my $2400/mo. premiums need to go SOMEWHERE - right?)
Around here it’s the Amish, but same concept :)
Didnt lick health care uninsured.
It was made to place certain minorities on Medicare, no matter their age, where they would get free healthcare.
Just made health insurance expensive for every one else.
It was made to make anybody in the Middle Class, and those just below the Middle Class, pay high premiums and very high deductibles which would bankrupt a family if they tried to use their so-called insurance. Thus, the Middle Class would pay for the increased population placed on medicare, via their premiums, and not be able to receive any monetary benefit from using their insurance plans via the high deductibles.
