No, they’re a west coast thing. Personally, I like(d) still hunting or trail watching. Baiting would require polluting the baited area with human scent. In Texas, where mesquite can limit visibility and people pay big bucks to hunt big antlers, baiting is the norm. Running a deer down with dogs doesn’t hold any appeal for me.
Big antlers do nothing me...Can’t eat antlers...

Deer dogs don’t run deer down, they just track the deer and the deer will circle back to the hunters. Beagles are popular deer dogs in the south, they are slower but the deer run a smaller circle.
