On Sunday, via Twitter, Trump demanded that the Justice Department concoct a transparently political investigation, with the aim of smearing veteran professionals at Justice and the FBI and also throwing mud at the previous administration. Trump’s only rational goal is casting doubt on the probe by special counsel Robert S. Mueller III, which appears to be closing in.
Trump’s power play is a gross misuse of his presidential authority and a dangerous departure from long-standing norms. Strongmen such as Russia’s Vladimir Putin use their justice systems to punish enemies and deflect attention from their own crimes. Presidents of the United States do not — or did not, until Sunday’s tweet:

The Constitutional crisis was triggered by the FBI and CIA abusing their powers to spy on and disrupt the opposition candidate. Rare is the liberal commentator who gives a fig about that. And rare is the liberal commentator who gave a fig about the Obama Administration corrupting the DOJ, FBI and CIA. Trump’s response is entirely Constitutional in the face of those abuses, present and past.

What a bunch of BS. The president directs the activities of the DOJ and that’s a crisis. This new concept that DOJ should be free from the president and congress is nothing less than flipping the finger to the constitution.
The President can direct an investigation to be started, or order one stopped. Period, end of discussion. If he does it for clearly corrupt reasons, congress has the power to impeach.
But there is no such thing as a DOJ that the president must not interact with.
Trump isn’t provoking anything. It’s the seditious traitors (DemonRats, MSM) who are. Prosecute treason—NOW!
