Yes. I have seen him on TV several times. He comes across as an idiot. But if you rewind it and watch it a second time, thinking not “stupid” but “evasive” then you realize you can interpret everything he says as an attempt to evade the truth. He’s got a PhD and speaks Russian, so I don’t see how he could be stupid. I’m betting “evasive.” He’s just trying to give himself cover, and “stupid” is his cover. If I were an innocent completely non-complicit citizen in his situation, I would be outraged, but he seems to be very accepting of what’s happened, even understanding. Of course, I suppose it also could be that he’s afraid of the legal repercussions of what he might say, but if that were the case, then you have to ask why he went on TV at all.
