I was SCUBA diving solo not long ago and had the great pleasure of flirting with a little octopus at about 30 feet, watching the chromatophores, and sort of playing with the lovely little creature. He played back - grabbing my fingers and sort of looking at me from time to time, amazed - then darted away. The whole encounter lasted maybe 15 minutes... Why I like to dive alone.

I’d NEVER dive alone under the bridge. We had to time our dives for the slack tides, otherwise we’d be swept away to Seattle or Olympia. ROFL

Yeah, playing with octopi down there is fun. Some of the biggest in the world live there. The huge cracks and crevices made by the gigantic blocks of concrete make them nice little homes. Have seen a “wall of tentacles/suction cups” in some, looking in with my light. Lovely creatures. Never wanted to harm them, just find and watch/play with them.
