The ceremony itself featured an African-American bishop who cited the American civil rights movement and quoted Martin Luther King Jr. as often as he did Jesus. The couple opted for a secular song, Stand by Me, performed by a predominantly black gospel choirjaws literally droppedin addition to old-school Christian hymns sung by the congregation. The traditional Anglican vows were altered slightly to allow the outspoken feminist Markle to opt out of the traditional promise to obey her husband.
While the acceptance of people of color into the royal fold is a welcome and long-overdue change, the acceptance of divorce and immorality by the Church of England is another thing altogether. That the Church blessed the union at all, coming as it did after the couple had been openly cohabitating and in light of Markles divorce, signals a radical departure from the traditions of the church headed by Queen Elizabeth, who inherited the title Defender of the Faith on the day of her coronation. That designation was first granted to King Henry the VIII by Leo X in 1521. Henry VIII, you will recall, famously left the Catholic church after the Pope refused to annul his marriage to first marriage to Catherine of Aragon. He later appointed himself Supreme Head of the Church of England and went on to wed five more women.

I read that Fergie wasn’t invited to Kate and Will wedding. I wonder why not. It seemed odd to me that she was by herself and didn’t sit with her girls.
The monarchy would be in danger collapse if they did not perserve bloodlines

Questions raised over Queens ancestry after DNA test on Richard IIIs cousins

I agree about the beard, but it’s just personal preference. Megan probably told him to keep it so he did.
If Megan is pregnant then the whole virginal, veiled bride act with the big fairytale wedding was just ludicrous. It’s fun to have some juicy gossip going during all the Muller crap.
“Either grow a proper beard...”
I had a CEO once who shared your opinion of short beards. He passed away of old age, about 20 years ago.
I don’t know. It’s a weird situation.
I’ve read that she was invited to Harry and Meghan’s wedding but wasn’t invited to the private family reception, but her girls were. I saw her walking to the chapel before the wedding but, like you, I was wondering why her girls weren’t with her.
She wasn’t invited to the reception because of Prince Phillip. From what I hear, he absolutely hates her guts because he thinks that she embarrassed the family. As if Prince Andrew and Prince Charles haven’t embarrassed the family. Prince Phillip refuses to be in the same room with Fergie.
Harry must have put his foot down on inviting Fergie to his wedding, I’ve heard that Harry is still fond of her.
I don’t condone her behavior during her marriage to Andrew but I think she gets a bad rap. Andrew (Randy Andy) wasn’t innocent either and he is rumored to have ties with Jeffrey Epstein, the billionaire pedophile.
The traditional Anglican vows were altered slightly to allow the outspoken feminist Markle to opt out of the traditional promise to obey her husband.
The vow, as described online, are the same as the vows in Common Worship, the fairly new liturgical texts of the Church of England; I'm sure that she's not the first person to have used them.
The couple opted for a secular song, Stand by Me, performed by a predominantly black gospel choirjaws literally droppedin addition to old-school Christian hymns sung by the congregation.
No matter what style was used, I'd prefer secular songs to be used at the reception.
He should've married someone as British as Queen Victoria.
It’s obvious you have a very deep contempt and an axe to grind, and frankly, I’m not interested in trying to unravel every conspiracy theory out there about the royals, and there are many. Enjoy your dark suspicions without further interference from me.
Because it is a heirarchal society, and she excused herself from royal rank with the public adultery leading to divorce. That's not to excuse the adulteries of the royals; it's just that they expect to get away with it. The girls are still royal princesses and their father still a prince. So they sat with the Queen, and she sat with the guests, as did the Middletons, who are the grandparents of George, a future king.
“The Ugly American comes to mind”
Oddly enough in the 1958 novel of that name the Ugly American was a good guy- his ‘ugliness’ was his physical plainness, in behavior he was most decent.
The title character was probably based on an American aid worker in SE Asia, the man on the left in this picture:

Apologies, there were people wondering why she was seated (Or wondering why she wasn’t there). My bad, should of left To blank.
We just watched the ceremony last night. As she was making all those marital promises until death do us part, all I was thinking was well, she already made those promises to someone else. Yet then when she got a job acting on TV, she sent a letter with the rings back to first husband. And the National Enquirer says she actually married to some else before first husband? But that one was annulled? I give her the award for Best Performance by a B-List Actress Ever.
No problem at all!
I taped the wedding and was watching it. I thought I saw her in the Choir portion of the church on the same row as her 2 daughters and Prince Andrew. Maybe once the service started she moved.
You could be right. Maybe she came up to say hello to her former in-laws!!
Today, Juan William referred to Markle as a Black princess. He was absolutely euphoric over the wedding, the civil rights, the preacher, the music, the guests, Markles classy mother. IMO his excitement seemed to be more about the blacks pulling one off on the Brits. I would have loved to ask him if he thought the 50% Markle white blood had anything to do with anything.
I agree, she looked like she was performing. I was thinking the exact same thing when she said her “vows”. I thought the whole thing looked awkward tense, but I’m in a minority with that opinion.
I suspect that Markle is only 25% Black. If you look at pictures of her as a kid, she did get the Black hair, so she must be straightening it every day. But that 25% aspect of her is what gets her the most traction and attention. Did you hear that the Rev Al Sharpton proclaimed the era of White Supremacy is over because of the Harry/Meghan wedding. I did notice that the Archbishop of Canterbury was the only White speaker at the wedding. I suspect that was not lost on the vast number of people who watched. It did look like the Queen was not amused.
Agreed. Actually, her mother appears to have some white genes as well. I about died when Juan was going on about how classy the mother was and carried herself so well. Did he think that because she is black she couldnt pull it off? Just like tv commercials.......in almost every one, they have a black person dancing ridiculously, or talking ghetto, going ethnic.
