Losers of past campaigns should remain out of consideration, sorry. The only one who defied this and was a great leader was Ronald Reagan, but we could say the Ford presidency was an aberration based on the residue of Watergate. Anyway, RR didn’t think he had a turn—he fought for it.
The idea that anyone has a “turn” should prevent real patriots from voting for them on that note alone.
There were some very dirty tricks by both Romney and McCain to beat out the Conservatives like Gingrich who probably could have beaten Barack.
