A secret FBI informant who has come into the spotlight in recent days reportedly met with three advisers to President Trump's campaign during the 2016 presidential election.
The Washington Post reported Friday that in addition to meeting with Trump campaign advisers George Papadopoulos and Carter Page, the informant – described as an American academic – also met with former Trump campaign co-chair Sam Clovis.
The informant, a professor who is said to be a longtime U.S. intelligence source, met Clovis for coffee in northern Virginia in the summer of 2016, during which he offered to provide foreign policy advice to the campaign, the Post reported.
The role of the informant in the origins of the FBI investigation into possible ties between the Trump campaign and Russia has given rise to claims by some GOP lawmakers and Trump allies in recent days that the Obama administration planted a "mole" within the Trump campaign to dig up dirt on the businessman and his associates.

With recent developments (FBI spy, Clapper’s defense, IG report, etc.), conspiracy theories are becoming less weird. Questions keep popping up, like Why?, Who benefits?, What was the end game?.
Why? Because the two candidates were viewed by the previous regime as disasters waiting to happen. It was also a chance to get even for past sins. SWMNBN and the half breed hated each other, despite the public support. President Trump had denied the validity of the birth certificate.
Who benefits? One word - Obama. The email leaks and the Russia collusion story damaged both candidates while the half breed stayed above the fray. Meanwhile, he continues his “looking Presidential “ farce.

Who knows - with the info that it is a “professor” with some sort of international qualifications and the meetings described, it should be easy to determine for sure - Halper fits the basics....wonder how many other potential candidates there might be - should be a short list.

Obama can’t be impeached, but criminal charges can be laid against him. I say throw the book at them. Charge the whole lot with conspiracy to subvert the electoral process before Trump got elected and with treason for all their actions since he got elected.

Your analysis is spot on. However, this article has a glaring error. It refers to the informant as an FBI informant. The original WB/NYT articles refer to the informant as a government informant.
The FBI is not authorized to 'spy' outside the USA. They can interview and investigate people outside the USA, but they can't spy outside the USA. Therefore, my conclusion is that the informant is a CIA informant.
So, the CIA plants an agent provocateur to create the intelligence to initiate the counter-intelligence investigation. This is why Devin Nunes wants to see the EC (Electronic Communication) that started the counter-intel investigation. Once Nunes exposes this, the whole thing blows up.
This is also John Brennen's exposure to criminal prosecution.
With the recent confirmation of Haspel, who was London station chief during the 2016 activation of Halper to entrap Pap, gnarls this scene. IF Brennan activated Halper without telling the station chief in whose area this was done, then it sure looks like a political operation not an agency operation. The lie of starting a cointel to protect Trump is blown away. Strengthening the criminal culpability of the lying Mooselimb, Brennan. Now, who sent him out on this political mission?
